NM156 0 #1 February 4, 2008 I might be moving to the San Francisco area this year and was wondering if anyone could provide information on DZs in the area. More specifically, I am looking for a very friendly place (where people feel welcome) and with at least one turbine airplane. I enjoy doing AFF, but I only have my Canadian (CSPA) rating (and I got it only last year). Do US DZs acccept CSPA PFF (or AFF) rating? Are DZs in the SF area looking for AFF instructors (keep in mind that I am a week-end jumper/instructor)? I also enjoy 4-way, are there DZs with few teams in this area? Also, how is the weather for jumping like in this area (windy, cold, cloudy)? Finally, if anyone knows the SF bay area, are Oakland or Alameda (spelling?) nice places to buy a house for a family with 2 young kids? and how is the commute to work in SF (i.e. crossing the bay bridge)? There are many questions here, but any help is appreciated. Thanks is advance!

The major dropzones near San Francisco are: Bay Area Skydiving (King Air) Skydance Skydiving (PAC) Adventure Center Skydiving (King Air) Parachute Center (Otters, Beach 99) Quote I enjoy doing AFF, but I only have my Canadian (CSPA) rating (and I got it only last year). You'll have to call around Quote I also enjoy 4-way, are there DZs with few teams in this area? Skydance and Parachute center have active 4way teams, don't think the other two currently have active teams. Quote Also, how is the weather for jumping like in this area (windy, cold, cloudy)? During the summer most weekends are jumpable, Bay Area Skydiving can get very windy, be prepared for 20kts at times. Quote Finally, if anyone knows the SF bay area, are Oakland or Alameda (spelling?) nice places to buy a house for a family with 2 young kids? and how is the commute to work in SF (i.e. crossing the bay bridge)? I would personally stay out of Oakland, Alameda is nice, there is also a Ferry service from Alameda to San Francisco Quote There are many questions here, but any help is appreciated.
