Downwind landing on rollerblades

Recommended Posts

I've heard this was done once before.... was thinking about how it would be fun thought i'd ask about the safety concerns. I know obviously there is a risk of entanglement with the blades during deployment.. anyone know how big of a risk this is? I have never felt my dbag hit my shoe during deployment yet I still tape my boots (when I wear boots)...

Its been done several times... It was in the Quincy '98 video, 3-way rolls out of a skyvan... Someone even did it in this years Pond Swoop Nationals in the Canopy Expression Round... Swooped the pond and rolled out the landing.

Obviously you need to be good on your blades if you are going to try this, and you need to be sureof your landing area... As for deployments... Entaglement is a concern, you need to be very deliberate about your pull. The few folks I know have not had any problems that I know of...

The german army parachute team used to do their matted lithographs of some of their more odd antics. One year they had a photo of an 8-way, all wearing roller skates.

I have seen it done in person and on video and the only thing I would tell you is that you had sure as hell better be leaning forward in the harness. I witnessed two examples of people flaring and coming down leaning too far back, thus busting their ass completely on the asphalt, wearing only a pair of shorts.
