chuckakers 425 #1 June 22, 2008 rocks! Kudos to DZO's Todd & Kristi Bell and staff on bringing back a great Texas DZ!!! The vibe is perfect. Really. Chuck
AggieDave 6 #2 June 22, 2008 You're not kidding! Its definitely become the DZ to be in south/central Texas. Its strange, you go to the DZ and everyone has a smile and is having fun, its been a while since I've seen that at a DZ.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Slappie 9 #3 June 22, 2008 Hmm makes me think about jumping... I was just talking to someone last night about jumping. JohnRich 4 #6 June 23, 2008 $22 for experienced jumpers to go to 13,500' is a VERY fair price.

JohnRich 4 #8 June 23, 2008 Quote well thats great if you have a license Student jump prices are in line with industry norms. So your complaint there would be more of a general complaint about the cost of learning to skydive, rather than a complaint unique to, or directed specifically at, Skydive Houston. Yes, it costs a lot of money to get through your student training, and to purchase your own gear. That's true no matter where you jump.

Go to SpaceLand then, sit there for hours on end and see how much you get to jump. You'll be second to all tandems. bloody_trauma 2 #13 June 23, 2008 for the two levels i can get at spaceland for the price of one at Houston, I'll take the wait. Since when is saving money a matter of convenience? That and SDSL's staff is bad ass. oh by the way, i'm making my way to you guys here soon, maybe i'll bring pizza again.Fly it like you stole it

davelepka 4 #15 June 23, 2008 Quote$295 for an level at SD Houston $130 for a level at Spaceland According to the Spaceland website, $130 is for the first freefall AFTER you have a tandem, and pay $50 for the ground class. $295 at Houston is for an AFF level one, no previous tandem required, and ground training included. I've got news for you dude, skydiving costs about the same everywhere you go. Anytime there's a significant difference in pricing, there's a reason for it, such as you're comparing apples to oranges. Squeak 17 #16 June 23, 2008 Quote *** I've got news for you dude, skydiving costs about the same everywhere you go. . Not true dude. it's cheaper at LodiAND It's WAY more expensive here in OZ, about twice the price for fun jumps (about $40 AUD). and we're cheaper than the UK. So no it does not cost the same EVERYWHEREYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? davelepka 4 #17 June 23, 2008 Lodi is the exception to the rule. You're right about international rates though, there's a huge swing if you're a world traveler. But in the states, it's about the same everywhere you go.

The $295 price tag is for AFF, which includes an all-day ground school and a jump with 2 instructors. That's 3 tickets to altitude, 2 instructor fees plus the fees for the first jump course instructor. That's a lot more in costs to the DZ than a tandem jump. Look at the TOTAL price to get your license and you'll find it's about the same. But hey, what would I know about skydiving instruction in Houston?Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
