sportaddict 0 #1 July 23, 2008 I just want to let everyone know about a great experience I had. I took a vacation on my motorcycle out to Colorado and Utah this last week. Since I started skydiving and passed my AFF course I decided to see if there were any drop zones along my route that I could jump. After many phone calls I found only one place in Utah that would let me jump and was willing to help me with my 'A' license requirements. This was "SKYDIVE UTAH". I arrived Friday July 19 in the afternoon. Jack the owner and Phil in charge of manifest welcomed me with open arms. I showed them my log book which I was now up to 15 jumps because Mile High in Longmont, Co allowed me to get in two umps while I was there. I also explained my goals and concerns. They introduced me to one of their AFF instructors Phil White. Phil W helped me learn the landing area, find me a suitable rig, and answered all my questions, no matter how dumd they were. He also went up with me on my jump and helped me spot the airport and the landing zones. Jack the owner watched some of my jumps and landings giving me valuable advice and comments on my jumps. Friday night Sergio, Timo and I went to this wonderful Thai place for dinner. Thank you After dinner, Timo and Chris helped me learn how to pack a chute. By this time I was learning so much and having fun, I decided to stay Saturday. morning and make a jump with my own packed chute. Thank you Well Saturday I jumped my pack chute and landed fine once again. And then I was hooked on the beautiful weather, scenary, people and learning experiences. I decided to stay all of Saturday. I packed my chute 5 times on Saturday and jumped it 5 times. Good openings, good landing, good learning. I got to do coach jumps with Phil W, Martin and Cliff. All were very helpful and fun to work with. Thank you. Sergio made me a video of one of my fun jumps so I could show my parents. Thank you awesome video!! Saturday night I went to a wonderful Mexican restaurant with Chris, Doug, Linda and Don. Thank you. So this is one big THANK YOU to everyone at SKYDIVE UTAH!!!!!! This includes everyone I met and I cannot remember all of your names so please forgive me, Jack the owner, Phil in manifest, Phil W, Chris, Sergio, Timo, Cliff, Fish, Blake, Doug, Linda, Don, Pat, Mike, Rob, etc.......... I was able to complete 10 jumps between Friday and Saturday, packed my chute 5 times, stood up 9 of my ten jumps, only one PLF, fulfilled almost all of my "A" license requirements and had a blast with wonderful people. Thank you for making feel so home, so far from my own dropzone. If any of you are ever in Chicago please let me know so I can return the favor. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! jamiem 1 #2 July 24, 2008 I too LOVE skydive Utah. They have always been fabulous to me, even when I wanted to jump still on student status. Excellent dz and it's beautiful! I went a few weeks ago and my sister did her first tandem with Fish. Sergio did her video and it was one of the best tandem videos I have ever seen. bclark 0 #5 July 24, 2008 Skydive Utah (Cedar Valley, UT, before the move to Tooele) is my home DZ. Jack's DZ has always been a great place. I have awesome memories of Saturday night dinners, pumpkin bombing on Halloween, rowdy dinner loads, great bonfire parties and naked fire walking. His DZ has always kept that "old school" feeling. He still had a Beech 18 in 1996 when I learned to jump. He sold it and bought a Twin Bonanza. We had the Southern Cross DC-3 for several years. It has always been a small enough DZ that everyone is family and anyone is willing to help you learn whatever you need and / or jump with you. Glad to hear that nothing has changed.
