Does anyone know if there is a drop zone CURRENTLY operating in or around South Padre Island? Or if maybe there is just someone in the area with a jump plane?

Steenbock is the guy that we hooked up with when Aggieland went down there for spring break in 2003. He really wasn't running a big operation at the time, he said that if he gets a group of jumpers together then he'll fly some loads. Although that was nearly 6 years ago, it may be different now. He flies out of a private airport near Harlingen and will fly loads out to the island. Be warned that there is a very large INS detention facility that shares a fence with the airport. A tip from experience is DO NOT LAND OFF. The feds have zero sense of humor.

I can neither confirm nor deny my excellent spotting "abilities." I can also neither confirm nor deny that INS conducted a "felony stop" on a jumper that used to own a green and black Heatwave 170.

Did anybody find out more info on this joint? I'm only a couple hours away and it'd be easier to shoot up there than to drive 6 hours to San Marcos.

San Marcos kicks ass but it's too far for a day trip.
