wmw999 2,452 #2 February 11, 2009 Up at the top of this page is a "Dropzone" menu bar option. If you go there, there's a dropzone close to Dunedin; their email is dunedinskydive@xtra.co.nz and information about them (including phone) is at http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Detailed/16.shtml. There's also Queenstown, which is roughly the center of the adventure tourism universe for New Zealand. rhys 0 #5 May 9, 2009 Hi, There are dropzones not too far from you but you will find most of them are not too receptive to fun jumpers for various reasons. One dropzone in glenorchy, not far from queenstown is IMHO the second most beautiful location in the world. it deoends on who is working there, on how your enquiry will be responded to, they are called NZSKYDIVE queenstown, give them a cal they have an 0800 number and their website is www.nzskydive.com they also have a dropzone in fijordland. Als in queestown there is a dropzone call NZONE (www.nzone.biz) a tandem factory ( the busiest in the world 16000 tandems per year) they have varying opinions of sport skydivers usually negative but worth a go. Failing that you can go up to methven to the NZ skydiving school (www.nzskydivingschool.com) and they wil be receptive to you. also you could try fox glacier ( the most beautiful DZ IMHO) but they are a tandem factory with only a C185 so are usually too busy, but Rod the owner is really nice and will try to fit you in. Let him know in advance if you go there and tht will help alot. and then you have skydive able tasman in motueka. which is fun jump friendly and has a turbine. all are some drive away from dunedin, but all beautiful drives with very diverse landscape changes (hard not to have this in the south island) if you jump at NZskydive DZ's make sure their plane is in action first, the owner often does not pay his bills and they hold his aircraft until he pays. i hpe you get your knees in the breeze, you cannot imagine how much snow and ice there is in new zealand until you see it from 12k or higher!!!! good luck, PM me if you want any further information.
