geekstatus 0 #1 October 24, 2002 When downsizing to the = of a 1.35 wing load. Noticing that the student rigs, you flare to your crotch, and the faster rigs guys kinda flare while trailing arms behind them. whats with popping the parachute back in the air towards the end of a glide, how is this accomplished??? any windsurfers or hang gliders out there???? to quote fred durst.. "i've seen Good Stuff, about 28 times"!!! or was that fight club, i don't know...........
PhreeZone 20 #2 October 24, 2002 For one... don't go to the 1.35 loading until you have learned all about the flare on a larger canopy. And the poping up is due to a rapid application of the flare while in the plane out of the canopy. Don't try anything on a canopy over a 1:1 loading that you can't do on a 1:1 loading.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

nicknitro71 0 #4 October 24, 2002 Let me begin saying that I am not expert. Although just telling somebody to not do something is not right even when dealing with kids. (I'm refering to real kids!). The reason being they might go ahead and do it and get hurt! Anyway heavier loaded canopy have shorter control range. If you want to swoop you must zero your vertical descent without losing too much foward speed. To do this you need to know your canopy very well and it probably comes with a lot of jumps. In high wind days you see pilots swooping and landing with no more than 1/2 of the toggle range. Of course you can stop the swoop almost at any time, with some restriction, by pulling the togles down but that ain't much fun for some.Memento Audere Semper
