sraja 0 #53 July 13, 2009 Holiday Inn is better, Super 8 is just a tad closer. Holiday Inn has eating places as well as Walmart within walking distance

Super 8 runs about $80 a night where Holiday Inn is about $110. But if Super 8 is a yucky place to stay then I don't mind paying the extra a little nicer of a place. If it is clean and decent I will probably go with Super 8. I have reservations at both right now! :) Both have breakfast. Both have in room refrigerators. I am driving in from Indiana so closeness to stuff isn't a factor.Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
merino007 0 #55 July 13, 2009 I'll be there from the 24th till the 2nd!! No hotel for me, we got our sweet spots for the tents!! Everything in excess is bad... except skydiving and sex!

RMK 3 #57 July 13, 2009 I just called SDC and no pre-registration is required. Holiday Inn & Comfort seem to be the best places, Super 8 a step down and cheaper and Comfort Inn an “Avoid”. One person described Comfort Inn as having rooms where you wouldn’t want to take your shoes off let alone sleep in the bed. As for extra stuff (balloons, biplanes, etc), I was just told by SDC that they have none of the above for this year. I hope this doesn’t turn out to be a “poor man’s” version of Summfest compared to previous years, I can jump Otters and Skyvans without the need of an international flight."Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

Oh come on Kim, tenting it out is the way to go! What's a Boogie without squeezing as many people into a tent as possible and tripping over empty beer bottles in the middle of the night while searching for a good spot to pee? eightate8at8 0 #65 July 20, 2009 Can someone give me any advice as I'll be camping there? Not jumping, but just as far as camping things to remember. Should I be packing enough food (with my grill) to feed my party everyday? Things of that nature, thanks..
Kimblair13 0 #66 July 20, 2009 Well I would make sure and have a tent and sleeping bag. And beer.

RMK 3 #68 July 20, 2009 Good Catch. I meant to say Holiday Inn & Hampton Inn are best and that Comfort Inn was described, by several locals, as quite bad."Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

gearless_chris 1 #71 July 20, 2009 I was surprised that the cafe is not expensive. Dinners normally run between $8 and $12 depending on what they're having. Lunch will run you around $6. Yeah, they card you before you step foot on the dz, then you get a wristband, and if you're under 21 you get followed around by a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. If you are caught drinking without a legal ID, you will be branded on the forehead with the words "ye olde drunkard" and left in the pillory for the night. It's a freakin dropzone.
