Hawaii...Here We Come....

Recommended Posts

Well, something very exciting just happend... Booked our tickets to Hawaii for the Honeymoon.... Going October 7th-15th.... Looking into some DZ's and getting very excited about the trip... I was planning on bringing my gear but noticed that some DZ's require a 150 jump minimum... Anyone know how much that is enforced?? i have just under 100 and plan on jumping til the vacation.. But i will be very depressed if I cant jump.... Anyone with Hawaii experience please respond and school me..... Thanks

They are fairly strict from the word I got from a local not long ago. The winds are something that should not be messed with and the students they have for AFF are trained from jump 1 to be able to deal with the conditions that a lot of main landers just don't understand. I'd call and talk to them before planning a trip to jump.

They also quit jumping by 1-2 in the afternoon due to the strong winds so that needs to be a consideration also.
Yesterday is history
And tomorrow is a mystery

LOTS of Hawaii experience here. Great dropzone, wonderful people at Skydive Hawaii. Pacific isn't bad either.
Both require 150 jump minimum. And IMO, if you're not really current, 150 jumps isn't enough. Long, narrow landing area with rotors from trees and buildings, very near mountains. Winds are always higher than a novice would normally jump in unless they learned in those winds.
Either get really current and plan on not necessarily jumping, or leave the rig at home.
There are lots of threads on Hawaii...search will help you.

Congratulations and what a good choice for your honeymoon. We just returned from our honeymoon on Hawaii and ofcourse made some jumps on Oahu. At Skydive Hawaii they would not let my wife jump with 125 jumps, but at Pacific Skydiving it wasn't any problem (note: there was no wind at all when we were there). To bad they stop jumping when they are out of tandems. We had a wonderful time there: check it out.
