I'm probably about 75% in for this year. I had a great time last year but to be honest, I didn't meet all that many people. Seemed like quite a closed circle. Hopefully I'll get to be one of the cool kids this year... B|

I bet if you showed up at the dz in your work ride you'd be one of the cool kids. At least I'd think it was cool.:)

I hope so! If there was any chance of that happening - I do it in a heartbeat. A 8 hour trip (drive to airport, check-in, fly, etc) would turn into a 2 hour trip. Nice!

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to try to be cool on my own. :S

I kinda understand what you're saying. I think there are a lot of seasoned regulars that come to this boogie and a tight knit wingsuit crowd, freefly crowd, etc, etc, after coming here with eachother year after year, but I didn't find anybody off standish. Then again I was the lone freeflyer with my head buried in the wingsuit corner with nobody else to jump with except a few of my Houston peeps that showed up. (Thanks to my fiance I'm a wingsuit groupie by association even though I freefly, and often find myself twidling my thumbs because I don't get my butt up out of the wingsuit den and find other freeflyers.... or I just drag him on a freefly jump to make me his own personal photo whore.) :D

Anytime you see my obnoxious baby blue and charcoal at any boogie (you can't miss it and as far as I know I've never seen anybody with colors quite like mine!) you are more than welcome to come grab me for beer, chit chat, jump, or whatever. B|

Just mingle around down there and you'll find lots of people even if you're traveling without others from your DZ. If you want organizing get your name in at the asscrack of dawn-- thats all I have to say about that. But otherwise, just pop your head around and say hi!

Wish I was going this year. I'd already be looking forward to a jump with ya!
Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

What helps when you're new is the organizers. I jump a lot with organizers, you meet them, you meet new people of your skill level and you get to do some pretty fun dives. Try everything too! Go tracking do some atmo, go belly flying and do a beach jump!

It's gonna be fun!:)

Everything in excess is bad... except skydiving and sex!

I've been thinking about coming out to the boogie. Just curious about a couple things since I have never been to Puerto Rico. Lodging? Any reccomendations? I dont need all the extras, a place to sleep and recover will do. There was camping on the website's lodging ideas, is that a crazy idea? How do you get to the dz? I appreciate anyones help. Thanks

Ill be here! I live HERE!
If you dont want to waste precious money on lodging then Ill talk to a local that lives close to the DZ. He has a big ass farm and might let you camp around without any problems. Transportation from the airport to the DZ wont be a problem, let me know when youre arriving in PR and you can catch a ride with me. I dont know if I can skip work wednesday to friday to get to the DZ in time to jump, but I will be there for the wednesday and friday parties and will jump my ass off on the weekend. If you really want to enjoy Puerto Rico then I HIGHLY recommend anyone to rent a car. Maybe a bunch of you can get together and split the rental of a van.
I traded my lexus for a trashy old jeep cherokee so I can afford this crazy addiction ive got with skydiving and finally research a new product that permanently removes odors from vagies, so if the jeep runs down on the way to the DZ well just take a ride with AAA to the DZ.

Anyways, this might be my last year living in PR since I graduate next year =( so I wont miss out on my home boogie this year! Im new to skydiving, but with less then a year ive jumped in France, Holland, Virginia and Delaware... Puerto Rico takes the cake so far!

If anyone has any questions about lodging, etc., in PR ill be sure to help!

Ever been to Airport Cuylers? Rumor has it that the airport has changed to somewhere in Vega Baja....

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Noooo.... no shushing!! Many of us have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on this trip. I'll be pissed if I have to drive
30 minutes the other way from the house I rented near the Arecibo DZ, especially since it's after the time frame that
I could've received at least a partial refund for cancelling the house and finding one closer to the other airport, if in fact it
has changed locations.

Spill it... what do you know?

Yes, the location has changed, its less then a 30 minute drive. The change from Arecibo to Vega Baja is effective. You can call Jason at 7878525757. You've got no idea... I live here in Puerto Rico and Vega Baja is fucking awesome... The beach there beats Arecibo's beach by a landslide... The parties are gonna be even better... Camping will be allowed as well as bonfires and what not. You should keep the rental home anyways since it beats a hotel. You can find one of the best resorts around Vega Baja as Dorado is side by side.

Take a look at the aerial pictures attached.

And Dorado has many of the best hotels and tourist spots around Puerto Rico. Jet ski rentals, kayaking, badass golf courses (I hate golf anyways). Anyways, good priced hotels as well as cheap hotels can be found all around the area. In Arecibo, the hotels filled up in no time since there arent that many. Dorado hosts lots and LOTS of hotels within a 15 mile radius!

We want to start out thanking everyone who's supported and attended this boogie throughout the years, spreading the word, and making it what it is. This years boogie promises to deliver everything you've heard about and experienced and more. There's some rumors and changes to the boogie that will now be addressed. Due to govermental changes, lack of support from the same government, port authority abuses in contracting and dealing with skydiving - the venue has changed location. We have been displaced and battling for access at our airport for the last 6 months, after having had access for the last 5 years, the way many boogie goers and regulars have come to know. This battle came to a head a month ago, where the issue became cancel the boogie, or move it...

For more than the obvious reasons, canceling was out of the question!!! We refuse to lose the momentum of this boogie (366 jumpers last year), and let down all the folks on their way here. The boogie will be in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico on a private airstrip. The strip is 25 to 30 minutes east ( closer to SJ) of the old location (Arecibo), on hwy 22, exit #32. Its named Cuylers, after the owner. We realize the inconvenience for a number of folks with reservations at area hotels, and tried to balance it against the inconvenience of not having the boogie. We again apologize for the inconvenience, and can only promise to deliver what devotees and new attendees have come to expect from this boogie and heard about. With the heavy port authority yoke off the boogie, and our own place to cut loose, this boogie promises to be like none before!!! On-site after hours drinking and parties, bonfires, on-site camping, all a reality now. The boogie rocked without it, how about now?!

We now have 3 beach landing areas, with a natural swoop cove 200' across and bordered by sand. For the lesser experienced, we have a 1 1/2 mile long beach that runs paralell to the wind. Stay tuned for google earth coordinates to all 3 loacations and see what it's all about!!! This boogie had a 3 pronged salvation that consisted of a generous man with an awesome 3,800' grass strip, the local FAA FSDO and local ATC management, and their coordinated efforts to make this happen.

Thank you,
Jason Gonzalez, DZO (jason@xtremedivers.com)
Viviana De Jesus, DZ Manager (viviana@xtremedivers.com)

This location is for the Puerto Rico Freefall Festival 2010. We are still going to contract with Port Authority at the airport.

I have called a few hotels in the area and they are either booked because of San Valentine's Day or their rates are a bit higher and they don't have all days available. However, this area (Vega Baja) has many house/apartment for rent. Here are some numbers in the area:
Dorado Beach : 787-796-1234
Aquarius 787-626-0700
More information Soon.
Thank you
