SARLDO 0 #1 February 10, 2010 I "won" a working trip to Hawaii from Feb 28th to March 7th. I am working nights and have one full day off (mar 6th) to do as I please. My question is: Is there any fun jumping (RW aka FS) happening in Hawaii that justifies bringing my gear out there? The websites I found don't elaborate on other than tandems."Always do right. jsreznor 0 #2 February 11, 2010 Bunch of Ranch guys doing tandem and video in Hawaii right now. QuoteHawaii's most exciting activity at the world's most beautiful drop zone. Open daily for tandem and sport skydiving 8:30am. Free transportation from Waikiki hotels is included in with tandem skydiving. Hawaii's oldest and largest skydiving center operates a Cessna Caravan, 206 and 182. Although I think the blue Ranch Otter is out there right now. http://www.skydivehawaii.com/ QuoteYes, experienced skydivers jump at Skydive Hawaii. Due to the strong wind conditions we would strongly suggest that you possess 150 jumps and "B" license from USPA and be current in skydiving. Bring your USPA card, logbook, your own in-date gear and check in with manifest to sign our waiver form. Manifest will find an instructor to provide a drop zone briefing and check your gear. Jump tickets are $20 to 12,000 feet.
SARLDO 0 #3 February 11, 2010 Thanks! Hopefully there will be a crowd to jump with when I get there."Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest" ~Samuel Clemens MB#4300 Dudeist Skydiver #

DSE 5 #5 February 11, 2010 There is a lot of fun jumping that occurs there. Both DZs are great for fun jumping (they share a landing area), although I personally prefer Skydive Hawaii. While it *is* a tandem factory, they also take pains to accomodate fun jumpers and will make you feel welcome the moment you step onto the deck. Be aware, you don't show up at 1:00 in the afternoon and expect to jump all day. Show up early and expect to jump until early afternoon til the trades pop in. I think my wife would get just a bit upset if I told her I was bringing you to Hawaii with me. Now, if we just so happen to run into each other... DSE - Thanks for the gouge. I figured as much about the winds. Any idea if they provide/require flotation?"Always do right. rickt86 0 #7 February 14, 2010 I was just out there last month looking at some stuff, and my buddy Sean is out there shooting video (knoxville), who happens to also be from the Ranch lol. Pacific is more friendly to lower jumps, but if your there early and the winds are light both places will let you jump, I could have even jumped with an A, but I also was with my DZO from CA. You do not need/get flotation, the outs are not bad if you plan them early, bad for last minute outs. Smaller landing area, but nothing bad compared to where I learned to jump, just need to be heads up. I only have 40 jumps so don't take too much advice from me, but thats my take as a pilot, who went there with my dzo, and I have 40 jumps. Def a friendly crowd!
