Does anyone know of an FAA regulation that would permit a unpowered ultralight to legally perform an "emergency landing" onto private property ?

Any aircraft powered or not making a "forced" landing at other than the intended field is covered under the FAR's. It doesn't matter where you land but you can probably be held liable for any damages to the owners property but they shouldn't be able to charge you with "tresspassing." Now...that said if you have a "Farmer McNasty" and people keep landing in his field.....that's really another story. Sounds like more info is needed.

dude if you have to make a emergency landing do it whereva you can! after you get out alive you can worry about anything else. Tell this to the judge or the property owner: I was saving my life!

Clarification. Thanks for the responses. What I'm really looking for is a FAR that I can make a copy of and carry in the event of a "forced landing" and encounter with an irate landowner. I thought carrying some type of document could diffuse a possible situation.I also fly paragliders and sometimes on cross country flights landing options are limited.I've checked the FAR 105 and didn't see it covered there.I just wrote a letter to the FAA and will post any results.

sounds like a good idea, but if you find an irate owner most probably he wont care about the paper, he will just call the cops and scream at you. The best defense I know of is saying "dude thanks for your clear landing area, you just saved my life, lets have a beer"
