jknox 0 #1 October 17, 2011 I can fly to the west coast 24 December-1 Jan and torn between spending the week at Skydive Arizona or Perris/Eisinore area. I have never been to a boogie before so I am not sure what to expect as a low timer. Ideally a lot of jumping and some freefly coaching would be great (I have a few hours in the tunnel), do they have coaching at boogies? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Remster 30 #2 October 17, 2011 I can't comment with any 1st hand knowledge on Perris/Snore coaching availability, but I wouldnt expect any of these 3 DZs to have coaches available if you just show up there during what can be their busiest month and expect people to be idle, waiting for your business. Pick a DZ, call, and make plan with a coach there. Eloy would have some for sure IF you plan ahead. In terms of size, Eloy will probably be a bigger boogie than Perris, and then again Snore. All will have load organizers, events, etc. If what you really want to focus on is the jumping/tunnel, I'd say Eloy. If you want to have other things to do and check out, Perris/Snore has more "stuff" close to the DZ to make it more a vacation than purely a skydiving trip. I like Eloy , but wouldnt mind CA either... Remster
jknox 0 #3 October 18, 2011 Thanks Remster, I just got my leave approved yesterday and hoping to book tickets this week. I would prefer an all skydiving and lump in any additional training that I an't get in SEA, like freefly or canopy and wasn't sure if a boogie was a place that could happen. John Freefall coaching wont be a problem at Eloy (or the others; again, I havent jumped at Perris or Snore in a while, that's why I'm not mentioning them directly: I am pretty sure they would have coaches if you call ahead). Same with tunnel (I would put Eloy on the top of the list if you want to do quite a bit of tunnel; the Perris Tunnel has weird hours if I'm not mistaken) Canopy coaching is another issue. I know at Eloy, during the boogie, it wouldnt be very adequate. It's busy, there are sometimes multiple planes on multiple passes, and doing a high hop and pop may not be possible. This may also be an issue at Perris and Snore. To be honest, I'd pick a time where a DZ is quiet for any kind of canopy coaching. But hey, call and see! I may be wrong Remster
