jtval 0 #1 July 14, 2002 curios... when do you start thinking its time for a reline? these are things I think of im sure I am missing some. 1) off heading openings are becoming more frequent or you are having to pull one brake line a little to keep flying straight. 2) after about 500 jumps. as a precaution! 3) um..one(or more) of them break. what are your thoughts? My photos My Videos
drenaline 0 #2 July 14, 2002 one line is longer than the other. I think you can find a thread about this. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
ltdiver 3 #3 July 14, 2002 --Squirly openings...off heading....faster than normal openings with the canopy wanting to 'stall' instead of fly with the brakes still stowed. --Little flare available for landing (brake lines shrunk). Yes....-about- 500 jumps is the norm. Just had my Spectre-135 relined by PD this month. The flying is incredible...like it is brand spanken new again! (now...how to do this with the human body....) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
jtval 0 #4 July 14, 2002 I still got plenty of time (jumps) before I gotta reline mine..if its just the numbers (500 jumps). I can't wait til I try out my main again. its been since the end of april. My photos My Videos
ltdiver 3 #5 July 14, 2002 I should have clarified the 'about 500 jumps' as this number for Spetra lines. And...if you're having (or had, before April) problems with opening characteristics already, to have your rigger take a look. Vectran lines are usually replaced sooner....Dacron later. Sorry you've had so much down time! Perhaps skybytch will send some happiness your way after her jumps on her new canopy today. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

fasterfaller 0 #8 July 24, 2002 I re-line my mains with spectra lines every 3-400 jumps max . I reline my velocity every 250-300 jumps . I change out brake lines at 200 jumps without fail . I never seem to have any off heading problems at all .
jtval 0 #9 July 25, 2002 would you change line differently if you were driving a bus? let's call that bus a 210 sabre? My photos My Videos
fasterfaller 0 #10 July 25, 2002 It depends a lot on the wing loading as to how often you should re-line . I load most of my canopies at around 2.0 and after 200 jumps I can feel a difference . On a 1.0 to 1.3 loading you should be fine with a lineset for 4-500 jumps . I would not go much longer than that . I would do brake lines a little sooner like in the 250 to 400 jump range . cloud9 0 #11 July 25, 2002 When you guys talk about replacing brake lines at 200 jumps. Are you talking about from the cascade down or do you replace the whole thing cascade's included? Or are you just talking about the lower steering lines? If not how often do you replace the lower steering lines? Or do you replace them all at once? Wow I think I even confused myself! fasterfaller 0 #12 July 25, 2002 I replace from the cascade down . I compensate any difference from the cascade up in the lower brake line unless the upper lines are not equal length and then I replace the upper lines too .
