Matti3 0 #1 December 5, 2014 I am going to be in South Korea for a year and was wondering if anyone has ever jumped there or knows any connections in Korea. I saw an online page for Skydive South Korea, not sure how legit it is there... I really dont want to stop skydiving for a whole year...

stayhigh 2 #5 December 6, 2014 The country is at war still, so therefore General Aviation is limited to almost nothing. Lots of buildings to jump, but lots of power lines and signs.Bernie Sanders for President 2016
Bealio 0 #6 December 6, 2014 I was stationed in Osan for a year and got 2 jumps in There's a skydiving club that meets up in a park near Seoul and rents a helicopter and pilot and jump from 9,000 feet because of the air space restrictions. Last I heard, it cost about $100 a jump if you have your own gear and license. I payed $80 a jump. I also had to give them about 2 weeks notice so they could schedule a slot for me to jump. If you have the time and motivation, it's possible. I'd recommend saving your money and taking a vacation halfway through your tour and make a bunch of skydives in the states. harleydilligaf 0 #7 December 7, 2014 Matti- We talked through work email. I was stationed in Daegu last year before coming to USAFA. Check out https://www.facebook.com/groups/269999436410288/ and get with Youngchol Choi or Joungan Yi. They jump in Yecheon and down south. I had a car so it was easier to travel to their "mobile" DZ. The language barrier is there, and used my civilian co-workers to help translate. They are a great jump club and treated me very well. Where are you PCSing to? amstalder 0 #10 January 15, 2015 We left Korea last spring, we opted to hang up our rigs for our two years there. It just wasn't worth the cost to us, we used the money to travel instead. Good luck getting in the air. It's there, just depends on how much you want to spend to get it.

msearby 0 #12 June 1, 2015 Matti3, I am in the same boat in Osan until Feb 2016. I scoured these forums, and haven't had any luck with the few suggestions so far. If you make any progress/contacts, I'd be much obliged if you shared! Everyone, thanks for the info. I have looking on those sites and messaging suggested people and more. No replies yet, but I'll keep trying. Outside of the dropzones I am struggling to contact (or if there is any new information/POCs for them), if there are any riggers out here or if anyone knows of one, I'd be much obliged if you shared that as well. Thanks again.
Bealio 0 #13 June 7, 2015 Contact Yong Sang Jung on fb. He's a base jumper in korean that I met at Perris and I believe he's an active skydiver in korea.
zoobrothertom 5 #14 June 7, 2015 If you have your gear with you, make sure you have a current passport if you're military. Unless you live in Seoul, it's just not worth the cost. Just go to Japan via Busan on the Hydrofoil and bullet train it to the closest DZ every 3 day weekend you get.____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!! Machupo 0 #15 August 16, 2015 So, any updates? I'll be heading there soon and want to know if it's worth it to bring the rig -- it would suck to take a year off from jumping!γνῶθι σεαυτόν
arewhyayeenn 0 #16 August 24, 2015 How about anywhere near Seoul? I've heard about Seoul Skydiving School, but the website is in Korean and all I've heard about on these forums is that they're crazy expensive ($80 for an 8k helo jump) and they only jump twice a month weather permitting. Anybody ever jump there?
stayhigh 2 #17 August 25, 2015 more like 150 bucks. on a chopper that takes you little over 8k. All the Koreans go to California, Australia, and China to go jump, what does that tell you?Bernie Sanders for President 2016
arewhyayeenn 0 #18 August 25, 2015 Unfortunately I'm not going to have the choice of leaving for almost a year.. Would it even be worth it to bring my rig?
