hobbes4star 0 #8 June 5, 2002 >No yelling on take off.ever been on a crew load??? how come they can yell??why jump when you can fly
quade 4 #9 June 5, 2002 The one that pisses me off is a particular yell after takeoff that terminates in the participants hitting the overhead with their hands. Whack! About 5 seconds after takeoff.Don't they have any idea that can REALLY wake somebody up?quadehttp://futurecam.com
prost 0 #10 June 5, 2002 I can usually stay awake till after the take off because I film the takeoff for tandems.William

jurgencamps 0 #13 June 13, 2002 What can you do to prevent these kind of accidents with a Pilatus Porter? Ask a pilot how you can see if the trim is set correctly. You can notice it immediately when you look at the tail of the airplane. So never get in a Porter when the trim is not set correctly.CU
mjasantos 0 #14 June 13, 2002 Casey,I don't either understand a word of German language... but I use AltaVista translator. If you'd like you can do the same at:http://babelfish.altavista.com/With this tool you can get an approximate translation of text or even of a web page... just follow the instructions at that link.Better than this will be difficult... when using Internet, in such different languages we have to manage ourselves... otherwise, your salary would not be enough to pay an official translator.Blue Skies!Mario SantosMatrix FS (Portugal)
diverdriver 5 #15 June 13, 2002 Ok......where did the trim conversation come from? I can't read German. Is that what the reports (stories) are saying? That it was not trimmed correctly for takeoff? Please expand your post.Chris SchindlerD-19012ATPwww.DiverDriver.com
billvon 2,991 #16 June 13, 2002 I can't read German either, but I can read French, and none of the French stories mentioned anything about trim.-bill von
diverdriver 5 #17 June 13, 2002 Ok....wait....are we talking about the Porter crash in Germany or the one in Belgium? Or are there french articles about the German crash? I'm confused.Chris
jurgencamps 0 #18 June 14, 2002 Sorry folks, my fault. The German article did not mention a trim problem. But the description of the accident (nose of the plane goes vertical, pilot struggles to get the plane back to horizontal) fits very well the description of a problem with the trim. So maybe it was not the trim, but nevertheless it is still usefull to know how to check yourself the trim of the Porter Pilatus.
Phil 0 #19 June 16, 2002 if it's of any interest, out of first hand info. the pilot was not a regular porter pilot and had still the landing trim on takeoff. this led to the nose to go straight up with no chance of correcting it and getting is back down. 50 meter up and "bang" back on the planet. I guess we all check our gear before we jump, hope the pilots do it too.blue onesphil
