AggieDave 6 #1 August 23, 2004 My father flew a 172 for a DZ in Glasgo Montana back in the lat '60s (1967-ish) and I was wanting to find some more information about the DZ (and possibly old pics of my dad). From what I got from a conversation with him, it was a DZ run by some guy in the Air Force that was a "no nonsense" DZ. I was quite surprised since I was expecting stories of the "crazy old days" when I asked him.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." steve1 5 #2 August 23, 2004 I live not too far from Glassgow. I haven't heard of any DZ ever being there, but there very well could have been. Glassgow is an old Air Force town with a lot of history. Many folks left when the base shut down. It's one cold spot in the winter and hot in the summer. And it's good hunting and fishing near there. If I run into any old timers from that area I'll ask them if they remember any skydiving going on.....Steve1
AggieDave 6 #3 August 23, 2004 He said they used to operate out of an old B-17 training facility airport that had huge runways (he told me the width and length, but I can't remember now).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." steve1 5 #4 August 25, 2004 I'm sure the run-ways and hangars are still there, but now abandonned. There's still a lot of empty older homes at the base that people are buying up for bargain prices. Most are pulled off their foundations and moved to other locations. There are several houses here in Culbertson that were once part of the air-base in Glasgow. If I remember right Glasgow was also the home town of Steve Reeves.
