rendezvous 0 #1 May 24, 2002 I'm trying to compile a list of all possible malfunctions and how do deal with them so that I can periodically go through it. What I would appreciate would be if you can name a few mals or share some information on something that you or some one you know experienced. I know the commong ones are talked about a lot but I would also like to include some not so common situations that jumpers have been in. What I intend to do is to make a card that I can carry in my pocket and look at it ever now and then. thanks.
bhale 0 #2 May 24, 2002 I like the standard "pilot chute in tow" function. This is the one that scares me the most, providing ample opportunity for main/reserve entanglement-two canopies out scenerio. This is a good one!
nacmacfeegle 0 #3 May 24, 2002 "Unusual" mals that may not be discussed frequently might include:-Canopy wraps/collisions below 1000ftBrake line mals, and their numerous varieties....Both these have various procedures depending of the nature of the beastie.....And its definitely worth thinking about them before they happen to you.CyaDGravity Rat # 37Remember, we can do everything right, and still get hurt. drenaline 0 #5 May 24, 2002 Dunno how common is this one but happens.Going up without practicing your muscle memory by reaching the PC hackey handle so you know at what position it is. Some people store the hackey inside the BOC, and at the time of the pull the hacky is store deep inside the pouch, that he has to go to the reserve.Having a loose closing loop, if I remember, the closing loop must be tight so the grommets meet when you put the closing pin, it can cause premature deployment, I think.Remember to untwist the control lines."Life is full of danger, so why be afraid?"drenaline
