nitrochute 2 #3 February 8, 2005 steve snyder changed the name to sse around 1979 or so. he claimed that it was on his lawyers advice(so he couldnt be sued personally).i cant recall the exact year but it was around that time. does your altII have the narrow needle or the wide needle? nitrochute 2 #6 February 9, 2005 the yellow warning area was added around the same time frame (about 1978 or 79).the narrow needle units were made by "BAC". around 1973 the mechanisms were actually changed over to a unit made by Revue/Thommen in switzerland.the original units (circa 1964 were made by U.S. Gauge) and have a wide needle. a word of caution.... do not try to remove the needle on a Revue/Thommen unit or later .the needle shaft is VERY brittle and will break off in the jewel if you dont have the proper needle removing tool.but then you probably shouldn"t be messing around in there anyhow.
