slotperfect 7 #1 June 16, 2006 Wednesday night I had the pleasure of meeting Loy Brydon, D12, at a Tucson saloon. Loy was one of the original Golden Knights, and held several postions including First Sergeant. He hasn't jumped in about 15 years, but he is in great shape for being 74. I will certainly bump into him again . . . Arrive Safely John
cutaway1 3 #2 June 17, 2006 When I was 16 in the 60,s I was working as a gass boy, I only had a few jumps, and I was gassing Don Molitors twin beech at Van Nuys airport, Loy Brydon was preparing to jump out of the beech, and I knew he was one of the most famous skydiviers in the world, he was on a bill borad for an ad in times square, in magazines and all that. Well, I couldn't believe it, it was a hot day, he had all his gear on, and he began running around the area doing ballet turns, and singing, at that moment I knew skydivers were different, everybody was laughing and he was putting on a show, 40 years later I an glad to hear he's still kicking, and sky divers are still different.SCR-
usedtajump 1 #3 June 17, 2006 Wow Cutaway1, you were a "lineboy" too, so was I. Worked at Love Field in Dallas back in the 70s. I remember Loy's billboard in Times Square, it was pictured in a couple of magazines back thenThe older I get the less I care who I piss off.
JerryBaumchen 1,442 #4 June 17, 2006 I have Brydon's signature in my logbook as D-12. Also, it was Jim Arender who was in Times Square, smoking a Camel, not Brydon. Arender was the first American world champ, 1960 in Style & 1962 Overall. Jerry

slotperfect 7 #6 June 17, 2006 I stand corrected. Unfortunately, I am unable to edit my post in this forum. I had not actually asked him for his D number - that came from my skydiving friend who introduced me to him. Oops! Arrive Safely John

JerryBaumchen 1,442 #8 June 18, 2006 Hi Deb, I got an email from Charlie Markin recently and he said that Jack still shows up now and then. Of course, with Al gone, he really does not have anyone to BS with. Often, when I would get to Seattle on business I would stop out at Snohomish and BS with Al, and Jack would usually be there. Jerry PS) We ain't kids anymore, Deb.
slotperfect 7 #9 June 18, 2006 Thanks to Paul Quade, our illustrious Moderator, for correcting my mistake in the original post, and thanks to those who pointed it out. I'll have to buy Loy a beer next time I see him. Cheers,Arrive Safely John
mjosparky 4 #10 June 19, 2006 John, If you run into Loy again ask him if he remembers Jerry Bourquin, D-22. I guess they were roommates on the Nights. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
