Zennie 0 #27 May 4, 2002 Sorry if I'm a little late on this.Michelle's has always been one of the more touching stories I've seen. Mine is a little more boring in comparison.I basically started skydiving because it was something I always wanted to do. I've SCUBA dived, bungee jumped, driven fast cars & motorcycles, and skydiving was another item on "the list". When I started researching it an reading about it, as I do with about anything I take up, I sort of realized before I made my first jump that I would be in it for the long haul.I love the people. I love the fact that I'm truly flying. I love the freedom. It's a very liberating and expressive experience. And unfortunately, no amount of video can impart that on a whuffo. You have to do it to understand. So for me this is just an extension of who I am and always have been. My dad races cars. I fly my body. So yeah it's probably genetic. It's kinda funny, I finally got him to do a tandem. Rode up in the Cessna with him. Jumped out first with a "See ya on the ground!" He got down and said "I see why you like it so much." That was a very wonderful day in my life, sharing something special with someone who has shaped me so much, and one I will always treasure."Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense." dbrggs 0 #28 May 4, 2002 Well since everyone who has replied has given a story of why they started skydiving I guess I will put my blurb on here. My mom started jumping when I was six years old. To tell you the truth at that age I didn't think to much of it. But as I spent more time around the sport and the people she jumped with I began to want to do my own first skydive. Well all the years that passed seemed to take forever. I finally reached 18, we went out to the drop zone to weigh me and see if I was light enough. Well it took a little while to get down to the correct weight but when I was it was go time. I was a nervous wreck when we got to the dropzone, little did I know how much more nervous I would be. I did the course and it was time to rock and roll, 20 min call and I am about to piss my pants. I get all my gear on and get a gear check, I am really ready to piss myself now. Get on the plane and takeoff, not to bad but I can still feel it. !2,500ft door opens and my mom leaves me with these words "See Ya" and she is gone. It was really go time, get into the door and start the countdown. Exit and bam it hits me this kicks ass! My first jump was on January, 21 2002. I have yet to get back due to school and all that crap that comes along with trying to graduate. But I can promise that as soon as I get the time and cash to jump again I will be back up there. Thats my little story. Thanks again everyone. David

hooked 0 #30 May 5, 2002 It happens!!! I was doing my second tandem on the day my son was doing his first tandem! I thought that was very cool! My other son, didn't care to come and watch and thinks we are both crazy! Skydiving has truly changed me. I think it instills values of self worth and confidence. Granted, not everyone comes away enjoying this sport, but then there are the ones who become truly addicted. I am always dreaming of being up there again! J"Catch your dreams, go skydiving".
