And if anyone is thinking of calling the newspapers..I'll warn you..I know how to squeal like a pig!
You Squeal like that Pig and I will do that Pig Calling that won a gambling cruise for 4, when we first moved to Florida in 1988.
Duane had absolutely no knowledge of what I could do. I sat there at this function on the Bay listen to all of the men and women doing what they thought was Pig Calling - I have never been one to get up in a crowd and do something like that - finally I could contain myself not for one more second - and offered to go up. I was shaking and had not done this since the 50's and never to an audience other than pigs. I just blacked out the "people" audience and did what I had been taught to do on the farm in the early 50's
Of course I won hands down. I can't believe I actually told this in a public forum - suuueeeee!

My claims about the area are local knowledge..after I got out of the USAF I went back to FL for 18 months then I moved to Vancouver in 1982... and went to Clark College.. and then moved to Portland to go to Portland State. I lived in the area for till 1999 when I moved up here. During those years I trapsed all over the area hiking.. climbing hunting.. taking classes up into the mountains for parks and recreation to make a few extra bucks..get my drift???
I sense geology in your background? Portland State?
Thanks,
G.
I think I said something about that before...yes. At one point I even thought about getting my PhD and teaching..but my GI Bill ran out... and they wanted TA's who had not done their bachelors there.... and I decided it was time to make money... that has worked out better than teaching. I have spent a lot of time around the High Cascades volcano’s... and have climbed all of them from Lassen in the south to Garibaldi in the north. I have also spent a LOT of time hauling packs full of samples of Western Cascades group rocks out of those mountains to take back to turn into thin sections in the lab. I have been all over Silver Star Mountain and the surrounding area in those years. That is one of the reasons I also know the hydrology of that area and where the drainages are and where they dump into the Columbia.
I have also hunted and fished the area when I lived down in Vancouver and went down there a couple times with friends from up here in Seattle who wanted to hunt that area. I prefered the area to the north of Silver Star and south of Swift Resevoir. Although we did hunt the Yacolt area more than once. Too gawd damn many road hunters in all those areas.. WAY too many roads.
I have done a LOT of walking all over those hills and valleys... Never saw Cooper.. or Sasquatch either.

we're at 593 pages. 1000-593 = 407
If we don't clip thru more a page a day, we'll still be below 1000 pages at the end of 2010.
That won't do.
Hasn't somebody's grandma talked to someone who knew someone who built a house for someone next to someone who had something hidden in a root cellar?
And lied about it when asked if they worked for the CIA?

I would note this happened Nov 1970, exactly one year before Cooper.

The reporter Paul Linnman worked for KATU-TV in Portland, Oregon.
I can't make the DBC connection any more obvious.

Florence is west of Eugene..just west of the flight path.

QuoteI somehow doubt Cooper invested a lot worrying
about the physics of step recoil, oscillations, bump,
flexure, positions on stairs where best to eliminate
or minimise physical effects ... after all, he didnt
understand the lowering of the stairs vs take off and landing, then he could get the door open ... etc etc.
I agree, but Cooper could have done all this by accident rather than design. Toss the briefcase first causing a pressure bump, then later gingerly descending only the first step or two and leaping.
Its not out of the question.

Put all of your bias aside concerning me - and then examine this second actual snapshot - add these features into the distorted area caused by the glasses and lighting and age. (The ears are bent over from the thickness of the stems pushing the ears out and creating the Pointy ears you have mentioned in the past). I had NO early photos of Duane - actually what little I do have now was sent by his family a few yrs ago.
Jo you are not understanding what I have been saying:Im talking about overall ear shape, which is genetically determined. This has nothing to do with wearing glasses or no glasses.
When I refer to Duane's ears as 'elf ears' or
'pointed/pointy' I am referring to an actual ear type
not poking fun at Duane's ears.
Ear morphology is genetically determined & remains constant throughout life.
Duane's ear shape remained constant throughout his life as evidenced by the photos you have posted (attached below).
Duane's ear type is distinctive and was
not reported by any Cooper witness or included on any Cooper sketch.
Duane's ears are not of the free-lobe type as
was reported for Cooper, but of the attached-lobe
type. (see anatomical chart attached) Moeover,
Duane's ears were of the pointed-helix type vrs.
a smooth-round-helix type assigned to Cooper.
And last but not least, the apex of Duane's helix
is displaced at least 10 degrees backward off the
centerline of the ear canal. All of these traits make for a very distinctive ear shape, not reported for
Cooper.

I just realized I ran across some advice for fighting polar bears bare-handed. This comes from an Intuit. I don't know if he's bullshitting or not, but will pass it on, since some knowledge is better than nothing I guess, if you get caught by a polar bear while lost.
I don't know what the "right" direction for the feint is. I guess you try one, and if it's a fail, then you should have tried the other.
(edit) I did run into a story where Duane fought a polar bear and ate his liver...but Poof!

If we are going to invade Afghanistan we need a lot more Duanes.
I wonder if we can clone him from some hair samples?
That tweezing of his widows peak might have been a deliberate attempt to get robust DNA samples including follicle tissue.
Duane knew we would eventually need more Duanes.

no way is tossing one brief case out the back going to cause a pressure 'wave' unless it Him going out then coming back in. The hole has to be reduced or opened to a significant degree to change pressure. The same applies to standing at different positions on the stairs with respect to the hole.QuoteQuoteI somehow doubt Cooper invested a lot worrying

Jerry - you need to backoff on the offensive statements. As far as DZ.com goes Amazon is a known jumper (not by me) and is well respected - you're a poster on possibly the looniest thread on dz.com and quite possibly the internet
Don't go challenging me to a duel or jump or anything similar cause I quit jumping 15 years ago and frankly my outdoorsmanship sucks. a few things that I have learn't from the internet:
1) I have a tiny cock - everyone elses is at least a foot long
2) Most males have either been in Special Forces or their father/brother/uncle or nephew has been
3) everyone who posts on the internet has above average intelligence - including me!
I'm still chuckling!
But Hey,
You are full of shit!
1) Mine is a lot smaller than yours.
2) I was stopped by a cop who was Delta Force at one time.
3) My IQ is at least 30 points lower than yours.
So there.

Others are the opinions of various posters.
DBC could have survived and a search of the correct area
would yield no evidence.
DBC could have died due to the environment and is out
there somewhere.
So, anyone who has an area, and they are absolutely certain, then they should search it and post their results.
If the money is found, keep it as a reward. Write a book.
I think that the incorrect area was searched.
That is the best way to not find something.

For those who think they are going to find the money and Coopers dead body... I would like to point out how much the money that was found had fallen apart that was found at Tena Bar and that was only a few short years after the hijacking. here we are 30 years later.... Its a very wet climate and paper and clothing.. even paper that has a high cotten content like our green backs are will have rotted away a LONG time ago.

Is there any terror not involving planes? I guess nukes.

I would like to say that it does not matter to me WHO Cooper actually was. He was somebody.. He did what he did... and that is a fact that no one can argue.. and I think it takes billiant skill to completely dissappear.. I do not think that was an accident. I think the reason there has never been a trace of him found... is pretty simple.. you can't find something that is not there.
With all the nutters that have been all over those area's looking for sasquatch... and the next gold mine... I think its like the people who to this day go looking for the Lost Dutchmans Mine... at least the gold there will not have rotted away.. IF there was any money and a corpse.. it would have shown up long ago.. found by a hunter.. a hiker... or a sasquatch chaser.

Polar bears are endangered. Humans aren't. If you run into a polar bear, it is your duty to future generations and the planet to allow the bear to eat you, rather than try trick and kill it. Thank you.

I am inclined to agree with most of this, however
I feel a lot more remains to be done, and possibly
will be done in the future. I feel options are still
open ...
I dont think it took brilliant skill to disappear in
1971... people and even whole events dissappear
regularly only to surface later.
For example, the real Duane Weber vrs. the Duane
Jo has conveyed for years, are probably two totally
different people, in reality. And that difference has been the source of endless conflict.
