Nowadays, I think there are cases where the TSA is claiming it's okay for them to copy any digital media (laptops etc) that they get access to.

Or you can get the same thing, with built in encryption. so when the TSA finds it, at least they have to torture you for a while before you give up the password.

Any guerilla movement is only as strong as the individual cell members. Encrypted data, flash drives stored in body orifices etc. need to become standard practice here.

Duane had a gadget - I didn't understand - so maybe some of you guys could explain it to me. It was a case big enough for a large battery and it had a part that was like the head of a flash light only it was just the light part

The battery described in Cooper's bomb (this may be distorted third hand info) was round. Those large round dry cells were 1.5 volts and not used to power spotlights radios or strobes. A common use of these large dry cells was to power glow plugs to start model airplane engines.

The stuff you describe that Duane had sounds to me like an electric lantern that clipped onto the top of a special 6 volt lantern battery. Some had a blinking signmal light in addition to a spotlight. They were common in the 1960s.

Military right angle flashlights were common then too. They came with colored filters. See the pciture below.

in his book, Pete talks about jumpmastering for a Dakota load with the Saigon Sport Parachute club.

He also talks about a hula-hoop jump, right there at their DZ outside of Tan Son Nhut.

If he knows about someone doing hula-hoop passes in the middle of the Vietnam War, well, that will count for a good crazy skydiving story..

It's one of those weird questions I have about his book. I suspect he may have taken a little literary license and mixed some events up. The hula hoop stuff may be from WA, or ??.

He actually describes the technique. Evidently it's key not to stall out and get stuck in the hoop.

(edit) I'm focusing on the trivial stuff I guess, outside of the stronger themes. But they give the book a Catch-22 like feeling, IMHO.

Speaking of USB memory sticks, brand new ones in the wrapper are allegedly dropped in parking lots of high tech companies. When a "lucky" finder plugs it in, it loads a key logger and everything typed is emailed to the hacker who programmed and repackaged the stick. Could be urban legend BS, but it sounds feasible.

Turns out Sheridan already knew the FBI, or they
knew him. That does not mean it had anything
to do with the Cooper case. 377 and the Jerk just

lots of calls and inquiries about the Cooper case over the years. Jerry has been on the Cooper case for a long time. His searches are public knowledge.
Sheridan got interested in the Cooper case. This
was a long time ago. Why would Sheridan get interested in the Cooper case - because he is Cooper? Duane got interested in the Cooper case.
Lots of people have shown interest in the Cooper case, for a variety of reasons. Only a hand full of freaks maintain they were Cooper, or emulate
Cooper, or construct the idea they might have been Cooper but aren't. That is a psychological issue.
Sometimes the FBI has to sort out people's myths.
