Almost everyone here has been an excellent source of information - and has been helpful and for the most part extremely polite and courteous.

I have researched my own (paper) files from the 1996 and 1997. I found a letter I wrote to Himmelsbach (remember I didn't have a computer so all communications occurred on the phone and by mail). On the back of this letter I drew a map using my memory and the Osha map I had of that 1/2 of the USA...

I think I had found a State map in an Atlas, but do not remember when I acquired a regular State map. I am sure I didn't go out and buy one.

It is a pencil drawing with the over all view in the lower half and the close in view on the upper half -- there is a line drawn to separate the two versions.

The over-all view shows Hwy 14 and the loop (which is the Washougal River). There are 3 X's marked around that area.

1. I State on the map "I think we were here" pointing to all 3 of the X's near the Washougal area.

2. Since I didn't have a map that showed any detail -- this little drawing shows a line which I labled 500 and then a line going off of this with the remark stated in number 3.

3. I wrote on the map "He talked about a man who owned a place in Dollars corner but we didn't go there".

The upper half is where I tried to draw with some detail the area around What I LATER found to be Lake LaCames without the aid of anyone but the Angel Udell and the friends in WA who assisted me in 2001.

Bear in mind that the drawing was done prior to my trip and in the very beginning of my search. In this drawing it shows the water wide then narrowing and I have put the cottages in the right place. Since I didn't know it was a LAKE - I had a stream of water going in and out. Therefore until I went to WA in 2001 and discovered it was a lake - my conception was it was a river.

I put the area Duane pointed to when he stated "That's were Cooper walked out of the woods." on the wrong end of this wide body of water (East versus West)- I was trying to draw what my mind could remember. I know why my memory logged it this way - because when we came back from the hill which is where he did some turns, I thought the water I was seeing was a continuation of that same body of water. It was actually the water we had just passed. I remembered trying to explain that the water was on my right and then again on my left.
Dumb Blonde moment.

The party assisting me by phone insisted Duane and I would have had to cross a bridge and it had to be the Columbia and was under the impression Duane must have double back. I kept insisting we were not on the Columbia.

On this same map I show the Logging road on the South side of the lake and on the North side remnants of what used to be 3 cottages on a gravel, rock and dirt area on a point on this body of water.

All of the above is what I tried to convey to those who offered to assist me. One party insisted but never convinced me where we had to be - it would not be until my trip in 2001 that I found the area - and it is very close to one I did with pencil and paper trying to describe what I had seen at that time 18 yrs before.

By the time I actually got to WA to find the site - it had been 22 yrs since the trip in 1979.

Not sure this indicates a sense of humor, but I am appreciative of all of the good folks here at DZ and the posters (with one exception). We have had our ups and downs. We had arguments and discoveries along the way. There have be casualities along the way - some only injured (out of commission for a while) and others were fatalities.

Some of the fatalities could have been avoid with some caution on the part of the posters. The skirmishes where handled professionally by our moderator Quade.

I do want to thank DZ and especially those in History and Trivia for all of their patience in allowing us to be here - rather than in The Bon Fire or any other section that caters more to the younger set.

Before I go - I hope the prior post I made about the area I spent 4 1/2 yrs trying to explain to a certain individual has been clarified. There is only ONE person I hold any malice toward. This person was supposed be an intelligent and knowledgeable. My experience with this man has been HELL...and thought I got him out of my life in 2001 until he showed up in the thread. His posts are typical of why I severed that relationship yrs. ago.

I will assure all of you that D. Pasternak would NOT hang up on any one unless the party on the other end was out of control.

The friend of Duane's in Atlanta has gone on record regarding content of a conversation with this certain party. The content of the conversation was distorted in the same manner as my description of the areas Duane took me in 1979. This has been recorded and verified by a third party.

Geeze! Sounds like I am writing an obituary and I may have put a nail in my coffin. Hope that is not done until Georger gets back so I can find out what his "Miracle" was.

Well, let's see,
1.Duane knew lots of bar owners.

2. Duane did tell me he knew a man in Dollars Corner who had a business there and mentioned The Tavern. (Note, that Jerry in past posts has claimed this was another bar in another place on this forum) and claimed the one in Dollar's Corner was NOT the bar I mentioned. Yet, I have it in black and white - I have talked about that place since the beginning.

3. Duane mentioned a bar near the Scholls Airport.

4. Duane mentioned a place in the Washougal loop that was a hang out for the guys. I didn't understand this then or now.

5. As for knowing band members. Duane was a very good singer, he knew LOTS of band and piano players. One did many yrs later have his own band - I don't remember the name anymore. Everyone starts someplace and lots of performer played in Bars in CA and other places in the 40's and 50's.

6.Duane Weber never had a band.

7. Duane never played in a band although he told me he played an instrument (didn't we all in high school).


8. There was a man who pulled me aside in Dollars Corner in 2001 (day time with a group helping to retract the trip) and told me he thought Duane might be a man who came in - singing for drinks - a ladies man - but, the genre was Country Western and I never heard Duane sing a country western song. Not out of the realm of possiblities since he knew individuals who played the guitar. We were told to find a hermit type man who lived in the area as he might have known who this singer was since they seemed to know each other.

Outside of the above I have NO idea what was meant by the statements.

You have stated the above before and I have no idea what you are talking about - I am sure if I ever said anything about Pit or Cruise it would have been in jest or fun...I have NOT even seen a movie with these guys. I have been to one movie in 32 yrs...and that was Beyond Rangoon. I do not rent movies either. If it is not on prime time TV and on the major Free public Channels I do not see it...I have antenae only. I read lots of books.

Dollar Corner Tavern was still standing in May of 2001 when I was there with the crew. We went in and spoke with some of the guys hanging out there. One man's name was Snow. That is all I remember. Your source is in error. I have the written records of this visit along with the names of the men there.

Across the street was another business we went in - but that establishment was not there in 1971 or 1979. Lots of yrs had gone by and new businesses had occupied that building over time.

The crew and Scott were with me and I was NOT alone.

Doing some jumps from 18,000 with sweeping ocean views Saturday! Only $30. How have we managed to keep jumping so cheap? They should have put jumpers in charge of health care. Two weeks of training and you could be a licensed medical technician. Everybody signs waivers.

The FBI told me I had to put him on the plane. Hopefully I have enough to do that - I know that lately the air has been so thick you could whip it with a beater into foam.

If I didn't put Duane on the plane then the FBI has discovered something new regarding the case. WA is silent right now. I told someone about something a few wks ago and I am hoping that I may have struck a nerve...I know I was asked the same question 3 times in ONE short conversation?

Maybe it was just curiosity on the part of the other person - but, I can hope - RIGHT?

The chute part is not hard to figure out if you learn the history of Weber in the late 40's and then again in the late 50's.

Just for your information we confirmed a LONG time ago that Weber lived for a very short period of time in the Columbus, Ga area. This information was told to me and recorded yrs ago. She didn't know what name was used and may not have been Collins or Weber. They were only there for a few wks. Does that put him in a chute? - NO, but it does validate he did live in the Phoenix area for a brief period of time which means he did not lie. Did he lie about the jumping part in that story? Probably not.

Is the above paragraph - fiction or truth or theory or a mixture?
The recorded statement of his living in the area is true. The rest is up to someone else, as there are bits of information I have sat on for yrs.

PS. The FBI was made aware of this information as soon as it was obtained.

377 I agree with you. Don't get your hopes up though' most of Jo's stories only came into play after she made the only documented trip to portland in 2001. Then she learned how to work the computer and got more information and map,s on line to help add more stories.I still have a couple of maps she sent me in 2001 discribing Lacamas lake a cabin and the columbia river. Lacamas lake was real popular back then they had recently filmed a movie at Ledbetters Mansion. It was quite a tourist attraction. Still alot of Jo's stories is my fault. i gave her a lot of her Info. If I had only ignored her from the biginning and piblished the article disputing all her claims as requested back then. This would not be happening. The FBI is not the only people that jo has attemted to use there are many other's.Talk to the crew's on the documentaries that worked with her. That you realy would enjoy. Still in this case all info has to be researched Jo knows this. I still get leads from all over. There is one New one and that is there is a woman about 75 that live's in Canada that contacted me recently and claim's she was also married to DB Cooper. Some of her fact's does fit more than Jo's. Jo's Original intentions were to publish a book .She already had a author on line when she first contacted me. Only problem was, I researched her story ,talked to all involved, found all her info was not creditable. She then contacted various news personell and finally a crew for a documentary. I was contacted. She was able to get them to pay her outragious phone bill and give her 15 minutes of fame. They tried to talk her into giving this up then after she made a fool out of them. That was the documentary on the ticket that was suposed to be buried in the back yard. She came up with that Idea durring a conversation her and I had in the 90's .She tried to use this to build her real estate buissnes and procure interest in another book> Basically her motive was financial. Her only problem was her stories and the fact Duane's health background and friend's alway's proved he could not have been cooper.I went down to Florida for my daughters wedding Jo even contactacted me down there and wanted me to do a news update with her at one of her local stations. After talking to them and making arangements to do this. Jo called me back and ask me not to do it because it would hurt her realestate buisness. You see she had every one in her area cinvinced her story was true. When she found out I was going to dispute her story on local news she cancelled it This is just the short version. The long version can be told by the many that Jo drug into this quest of her's.Contact Me privately and I will put you intouch with all of them. I realize that Jo as always will dispute any of this information. I've also posted most of this info in the past. All I can tell you is go back to the very begining of her post here on dropzone and you'll see for yourself. Now you have her motive. She was even able to get a all exspense paid trip to portland oregon and get another documentary produced. They brought her out here to show them where duane took her only for her to tell them she couldn't remember anything. After the crew left Jo decided to rent a car and travel towards lacamas lake get some maps. And meet some mysterious truck driver. That part I still haven't got straightened out. She told me she rented a car later on she tells others it was a truck driver that drove her around. At any rate I still don't understand why it bothers me so much. But every once in a while I'll get a phone call from some one claiming to be married or related to Cooper, like I did last week and it starts all over again. All these people want is a way to get money. I've even had them call and ask me to send money to them so they could come and show me where the body was or the parachute. Todays economy is the reason for a lot of it, this should more than answer your question Jerry
