The one at 3000 certainly indicates that woman in Ogden could NOT have seen what she claimed to see. All flight information we have indicates the plane was ABOVE 5k plus most of the time.

This Seattle stuff must be hush hush - maybe we will know who Cooper could have and could have not been. Some of us won't be around to see the end of the Cooper saga, if it ever comes, but maybe we have all contributed something to whatever end there is.

This has been a bad day physically, but the emotional and financial impact of this Oil situation has taken a toll on the residents of the Gulf. The oil is supposed to hit our beach withing the next 48 hrs. I guess I will try to drive over and walk down to the water to say "Good Bye beautiful white sandy beach".

The enviromental impact has not hit us between the eyes yet - but Real Estate is at a dead Halt, because BP is not talking and they haven't been able to stop the oil. The Beach was still beautiful last wk when I drove over to the island (13 miles of protected beach - it has always been the hidden secret of the Gulf Coast - this island is a national treasure with all of its wild life and undisturbed beaches). This area has never been open to development .
It is one of a kind and not replacable - why people come to this area with no shopping and no real town....just a beautiful beach.

It is a sad situation for all and in many different ways.[:/][:/] and >:(. A way of life is being lost to many - my nephew has a large sail boat - spending most of his life in Destin, Navarre and now the Pensacola area following his dream of owning and chartering this sail boat......
The ink on the contract was hardly dry when the Oil Well blew.

I have never and would not spend one second looking for Cooper, unless of course someone handed me some dna and finger prints, or other
physical evidence. Straightening out some elements
of the case and enriching the factual history - that
I am interested in.

I actually looked your town up on the map today.
Somehow I thought you were in another area of
Florida, I was shocked to see where you are!

I would do everything in my power to get
someone to block the inlet.

I wish Obama would do something decisive and
put Lt. Gen. Russel Honore in charge.

I think it is very wrong to impersonate a vet and to claim combat heroics that never occurred, but have you ever met these pretenders? They are mentally ill in most cases. It is insane to prosecute these sick people and imprison them.

Bills like this drum up all sorts of patriotic zeal, but look at the hard facts. You will, in most cases, find mental illness.

I helped expose a pretend Viet Nam F4 Phantom Navy pilot decorated hero. I am a Phantom nut and have detailed knowledge about the various models. This guy was really good. He told riveting tales of going "up North" on Route Pack Six dodging SAMS etc etc....
but he made a couple of crucial errors based on having read USAF manuals rather than the Navy ones (NATOPS).

Turns out he wasn't a pilot and never served in the military. I busted
him but just socially. No need to call the FBI even though he violated the Stolen Valor Act.

We don't need to spend millions prosecuting and imprisoning these nut cases unless they used the ruse to steal or commit some other tangible crime.

My two cents worth.

Thats the whole problem - you cant just 'bust them socially'. It doesnt work. Guys who track some of these cases say that 99% of the cases involve
repeat offenders ... they get busted socially once
or twice and just move to the next venue/
opportunity. Sure there is a mental issue involved
but quite often these cases need to be handled
formally to get it "stopped". The situations themselves require decisive action, in the end.

Even with a law most of the cases will continue!
Thats the sad fact.

Here's a fact you probably wont accept without
verifying it for yourself. If my facts are correct,
there is no Dept under the DOD, no Dept in the FBI, etc etc which handles false claims cases.

There are only a few small organisations and
committees under separate Branches of the
Military which handles/investigates flse claims
issues, then may or maynot report back to the
FBI, DOD, etc. Some of these organisations are
staffed by overworked unpaid retired military
people.

Moreover, even with the Stolen Honor Act it is my
understanding there was no funding allocated for
a Dept or committe or panel to take over what
private groups are doing today -

If there wasnt a problem there would be no need
for a solution?

I have a son who feels exactly like you do. My
advice to him is "by the time you are my age you
might start to think differently". He concedes he
might. He hopes he wont have to!

I have a friend who served as an Army Ranger. He saw combat in Grenada and Panama but was too young to have been in Viet Nam.

According to my friend, woe be unto Ranger or Special Forces posers who make the sad mistake of peddling their heroic lies in hearing range of the real vets, especially in a bar where a substantial amount of alcohol has been consumed by the real guys.

I don't condone beating up mentally ill posers, but that's what happens.

At least afterwards the poser can truthfully claim that he fought with the Army Rangers or Special Forces.

You ever hear about this kind of stuff Jerry?

Does anyone have a link or copy of the article listed below - this appeared in the Nov 2003 Parachutist.

"The Mystery of D.B. Cooper," by Musika Farnsworth, Parachutist, November 2003.

Is the long post at the Lexus Forums the same
article? Url is:

http://www.clublexus.com/forums/the-clubhouse/368041-the-d-b-cooper-story-a-mystery.html

any help appreciated.

I can find nor eference to this article having ever been mentioned in this forum? perhaps I am wrong.
Likewise, the Lexus Clubs article on DB Cooper is
worth reading if you dont know about it -

see attached - so far as I can determine, the Parachutist Magazine has no archive on its homepage to download past articles from ... ?

Musika Farnsworth also has the first of a series of articles on the Cooper hijacking in the May 2010 issue of The Parachutist Magazine. Perhaps you could contact Farnsworth through that magazine and either get a back copy or a referral to where a copy of the article can be found online.

Just read her part 2 yesterday in my newly arrived Parachutist Magazine. Great graphics including the TTY transcripts of the acft's voice comms, but nothing much in new factual content.

The author was drawn to the subject after meeting Himmelsbach at her local airport where he kept his plane.

She does interview some highly experienced skydivers who jumped from 727 and DC 9 aircraft and all were suprised at the initial violence of the exit.

She apparently got a lot of cooperation from Larry Carr.

I'll bet you can buy copies of Parachutist magazine issues from the USPA. Parts one and two of the latest DB Cooper story are are in subsequent issues.

My son, a former Army Ranger, just told me he emailed a guy he saw on tv claiming to be an Army Ranger and called him out on his claims.
Apparently this guy was promoting his book and claimed to be a "Ranger".
My son did some research, the guy has the "tab" but never was in a Ranger unit.
There is a big difference between completing "Ranger School", getting the "tab" to actually being in the 75th Ranger Regiment.

Oh, my son didn't get a reply. Imagine that...

I like the remark - "completing" versus "actually". Lots of military and non military where trained to jump but were never considered rangers.

I hope you are NOT putting Duane in this category as he only mentioned 'ranger' training once, when were going thu a forest - I thought he was referring to forest rangers. I still do.

The forum and others before picked up on the word 'ranger' - I did not understand the connection. I investigated this possiblility, but the family members are all deceased. All we found was - an undated note in the family records and with no source stated. It stated a date and a location for jump training..the date stated was pausible with the background of Weber.

When Duane took me on
business to the Ft. Benning area...he pointed out a duplex or apt. and said "that is where we used to stay" and then going just a little further North pointed to another area and stated "Over there is where we jumped".

He did NOT claim it was military and the building he showed me was NOT on military grounds, but the base was in this very vicinity.

Remember when I made inquires of this military base - I was told some formidable things and then the man 'vanished' - I was told he was no longer there.

:) I am just re-stating this so anyone reading this knows I did not claim, nor did Duane claim he was a "military" Ranger.

Can you prove this statement? What evidence do you have of civilians being trained to jump by the military at or around Ft Benning??

We have gone over this before - smokejumpers where trained at Ft. Benning. I don't have time to go back and find the sources, but it was in the history of smokejumpers and the research an individual in the Ft. Benning area did...Ft. Benning also trained jumpers for other countries.

I have forgot the story - but there was one guy who was in the jumping course - and somehow an individual was found who had used someone else's number - and/or name. When found out I do not know what the results where - I expect criminal charges. I have often wonder if this is why the FBI came up with the name Wavy Greene on a military record with Duane's military number....no one was ever able to answer this one, but then all I have is my conversation with an FBI agent some time between 1998 and the early part of 2001. Wish I had recorded that conversation then maybe it would be proof.

I have never research a Wavy Green because I don't know what the correct spelling was.

Maybe Duane was just a fucking liar and embellished everything?
Have you ever considred that?

Liars have an uncanny ability to confuse and
obliteratre logic - maybe he confused and
obliterated you?

In addition, your reference to Duane & Bu Dop
1968-9 was rather specific, tease or not! That is military. That was just one more false path you
have taken people down ... in a long list of same.

Nobody talks about Ted Braden anymore. Was he ruled out? On what basis? Eyes? Height?

Does Sheridan Peterson still read this forum? Turns out old Pete was a very early wingsuit flyer. He was certainly up for trying the unconventional/dangerous.

Sheridan never did respond to my questions about how widespread the knowledge was regarding those Air America 727 jumps among people working/fighting in SE Asia.

I STILL think that Cooper knew for sure that a 727 could be jumped.

It's likely that he died but nobody can say it is 100% certain, not yet at least. I know we Cooper buffs ignore logic because we want him to have survived the jump. The balance of the evidence suggests that he did not, but we still hope that he did because it makes the story more interesting. A dumb criminal who gets killed trying something stupid isnt very romantic.

Do you think he was a trained jumper Jerry? Military? Skydiver? Both? Neither?

My guess would be that less, and probably a LOT less, than 500 people who were on this planet in late 1971 would have the specific technical information on the 727 that Cooper had. Cooper probably had extensive experience in wearing parachutes but little, if any, in jumping itself.

377. Its no secret that I believed he died from the jump . He sure didn't walk very far with out shoes on> I know other people think that he may not have been wearing regular shoe's .Thats there probblem.Experienced? I don't think that he was. He knew enough to get himself in trouble. Hell he was in a state of shock when he got the money he realy didn't believe he would get that far.He picked the wrong chutes the wrong time and area.Mentally retarded would be my guess.Or someone with a death wish.Jerry

Only a small number of 727s, probably less than five but almost certainly not more than 10, were used for dropping parachutists and other items prior to the hijacking. Cooper's technical knowledge of the 727 indicated that he had participated in such operations directly and had not just gained that information in hangar flying or bull sessions. The people who were conducting these operations were not known for broadcasting them far and wide. On a "need to know basis", there would only be a few people who knew the speeds and aircraft configurations that were being used. Some Boeing engineers and workers, but only a very limited number, would be aware of this since they probably designed and made modifications to the rear stairs to facilitate these operations. Tina Mucklow is quoted in Tosaw's book as saying that Cooper checked the packing card and pre-flighted the back pack parachute that he took. Tina also said that Cooper was obviously experienced in putting on parachutes. But if Cooper tied the money bag to himself in the manner described in Tosaw's book, he was just plain stupid since he would probably wrap the money bag tether around himself as he tumbled, and he would have, upon leaving the aircraft.

which technical info did he & only 500 have?

Any fool could put 2+2 together and realise you
could jump off those rear stairs, IFF you could
get SOMEBODY to lower them for you (which is
where Tina came in).
