I'm just going to discount it. 'Shake Cooper off the stairs?' You must be kidding. They could invert trying that maneuver and end up in pieces on the ground. Bill Rataczak (who by the way does NOT go by the nickname 'Rat') said that the crew followed Cooper's instructions to the letter once they were airborne out of Seattle. As he has testified, they were worried that Cooper might carry out his threat. All they wanted at that point is to be rid of him, land in Reno, and go home as quickly as possible. Radar evidence does not show Flight 305 making large altitude changes or flight diversions between the time they left Seattle and Cooper jumped. Jo States: Wrong wrong wrong. You must not understand the area I am talking about. There is a track on the Southside of the Lewis river at the old Chelathchie Mill - infact a spur goes up into the deep forest there toward Tumtum Mtn. It may not be there now, but it was in 1971. The damn Power lines run above that area. I didn't get to talk to the man who saw the guy walking and I will feel a lot better about the location when he consents to talk with me. The second hand party said this siting was around Swift Dam, but he was on his way to work and the wife may have misunderstood exactly the location he was referring to. The map that was marked for me by the third party - had one error that I caught and this could be yet another. We are talking communication between 3 parties here and I am the fourth. But IF this 4th party is correct there is a log truck bridge around Swift Dam and she didn't think that was very far from the tracks. Georger states: Doesn't this area SE of Cougar begin to get hilly between Mt. Tamtum east to Calamity Peak? These would be some of the foothills Blevins was talking about, quite correctly? I think you have to put Cooper somewhere within a reasonable distance between where he lands and where he is seen? Jo States: I have paid no attention to where Blevins has put Cooper and I have NOT read his book other than what has been discussed in this thread...and then I had not been back out to WA and talked to these people. I had discounted their story 9 yrs ago, but when I went out there this time - I was on my own and able to really talk to people and to look and look and look for the areas Duane took me to. Not some documentary crew that had only one thing in mind - sensationalism and whatever Jerry Thomas had filled their heads with (hell, they didn't even know where Lake LaCamas was and Jerry had told them there WAS NO BODY of water that fit what I was describing other than the Columbia). This was like having a conversation a 4 yr old. I kept looking for where those hand carts where kept during those days - and that spur around the Chelatchie mill was it. Somewhere I have a map that shows more tracks - private tracks deep into the forest...but that is not what we are looking for here. I am not trying to put Cooper anywhere - I was trying to find the places Duane took me. I did NOT know how close all of these places where until I was behind the wheel of the car and doing the driving. In 1979 I was just a passenger in a car with a man who didn't even look at a map the whole time. Not to mention that I was retracing a trip I took in 1979 - that is 31 damn yrs ago and I think I did a hell of a job - considering Georger states: Quote Please note that Cougar is on the north side of the Lewis River. If Cooper lands north of the Lewis he must ford the Lewis River to get anywhere south. If Cooper bailed much before Heisson then very likely he lands north of the Lewis River due to how the Lewis River bends south relative to V23 ... look at the map. Jo States: It was the other parties opinion he must have landed on the North side of the lewis and crossed the old log truck road bridge. I don't know where he landed - he may have landes in the area she thinks he did and if he landed on the South side of the river it makes no difference - ALL of these places are close together. and with the hand cart the rest of the trip was a breeze. This woman knows the area and has been there for yrs and yrs and yrs - you and I are only visitors. I was of the opinion Duane landed further South, but above and to the West of Heisson. What I saw 31 yrs ago is all run together - but this trip was an eye opener. Georer states: Quote If he was seen SE of Cougar he had to land south of the Lewis. This area SE of Cougar is approximately 12 miles from where the chute was found at Amboy. Jo States: NOT exactly - he could land SE of Cougar and still be on the N side of the river at the Swift Dam, but I believe he landed S.E. of the Cougar and until the other witness decides to talk - I won't know exactly where this man walking was sited. I was given the understanding they told the FBI all of this yrs ago, therefore if the FBI is interested I am sure they would have no problem in finding him. Until someone gets me a map with the plane radar marking transposed onto a map I can actually read with the cities and roads marked - the flight path is nothing but a bunch of lines and marks.Copyright 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 2013, 2014, 2015 by Jo Weber

If Cooper lands north of the Lewis he must ford the Lewis River to get anywhere south...' This is not as big a deal as you might think. Even in 1971, there were trails and Forest Service roads running along the banks of the Lewis River all the way to Woodland. I know. I've hiked them. In an earlier post, I related how I got my truck stuck up there in Janaury many years ago. There was a foot of snow on the ground. I hiked up off the Forest Service road onto a hill until I found a level spot. I had no camping gear, just my coat and boots. No one was coming and I knew what would follow when it got dark. I'm the guy who spent a month stranded in winter in the Cascade Mountains, and three days washed out into the Pacific. I know of what I speak. See below for details. I dug a narrow trench for the fire and used upright sticks behind it to reflect the heat back toward me. Then I chopped down a bunch of cedar boughs and branches and built myself a small lean-to in front of the fire. I piled up more cedar boughs as a bed to keep me off the ground, and used a few to cover myself. Then I fed the fire all night and caught some sleep in between. In the morning, I hiked out along the Lewis and made it to Woodland by maybe one p.m. in the afternoon. From there, I made a phone call and got a ride back to Seattle. Compared to a few other things, it wasn't so bad. http://adventurebooks.newsvine.com/_news/2007/10/04/1002074-lost-in-the-cascade-mountains-a-personal-adventure http://adventurebooks.newsvine.com/_news/2007/05/20/729944-my-40-years-on-ozette-island I'm still here, which by any measure is a surprise. Jo States: I was going between her opinion and my opinion and that it is all based on exactly where the guy saw a man in a business suit. I hate trying to talk to you in a thread because you take everything and twist it - so that is doesn't sound at all like what I am trying to describe. I actually had NO say over the 2001 trip. Jerry dictated to the crew where to take me - they didn't take me to anything I asked about and they didn't use him as the guide. They took me to Tena's bar and asked to dig in the sand and they wanted it to appear that was where Duane took me - NOT SO and I refused and walked away. The TV crew didn't take me to the places I had tried to describe and when I went out there I was at their mercy as I had not seen a detailed map of the area. All I had was a N.W states map with several states on it. You could not see Lake LaCamas on it. You could NOT see the Washougal River on it. I had NO details with which to work. Only after I returned did someone provide me with a proper map of the area and it was only of the LaCames area...and a state map. I did not have county maps like I obtained before I went out there this time. I didn't have the money in 2001 to order a bunch of maps or to make a trip on my own - so PLEASE if you can't say something nice then just don't even talk to me. I was in a car with 3 other people and they only wanted a story and I was nervous about the cameras - my going out there was NOT how I expected it. They were supposed to have someone who knew the area well. It was a college student who had been in the area for 2 yrs. NOW you figure out how I worked around that. Had my last husband has not left me some funds to work with I would not have been able to have afforded this trip. They'd be locked and the switch mechanism for the siding would be locked as well. RR locks are formidible devices designed to withstand assault What evidence is there that Cooper carried any tools that could be used to open or break such a lock? In 1971 most hand cars were scrapped or sitting in museums. Doodle Bugs (motorized versions) had long since replaced them. These powered cars were not left out in the wilderness unattended. Farflung 0 #19337 November 16, 2010 There is some interesting data in these latest missives. Some people in the rural part of Washington State heard some aircraft (presumably indoors). Such was the disturbance that they came outside and concluded that the aircraft must be in some trouble. This is where my avian senses are piqued, Robin. What about these aircraft sounds made these people conclude that they must be in trouble? You can make up any answer since I have no idea what this would be. Hollywood has offered many scenarios which include lasers making that (listen below)space weapon sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm70ecoCK0c&feature=related Skydivers love to film themselves. Many, many videos of people jumping from planes in many forms of dress up to and including wearing nothing at all. Why aren’t there videos of these people jumping out of the planes taken on the ground? There are certainly a fair amount of videos of a DC-9 littering the skies with jumpers at 10,000 feet. Almost as if, they are duplicating (modeling) Cooper’s stunt. Perris, CA is filled with people who must suffer hearing the distinct sound of a commercial airliner at such a devastatingly low altitude with a circus act tumbling out the aft by the dozens. Where are the witnesses (thousands perhaps?) to this semi-regular activity? So Cal must have some uptight citizens group complaining about the noise and people pollution caused by the operations of a DC-9 and the large volume of contents. Yet I can’t find anything. One event in Washington, at night, above the clouds, in November has people with crystal clear recall by the dozens. Kinda makes me think.
377 22 #19338 November 16, 2010 Aviation accident investigators are well acquainted with the phenomena. Something bad happens to an airliner and witnesses come forward saying they heard or saw something that indicated the plane "was in trouble." In catastrophic ground impact accidents MANY witnesses report a pre impact fire when there was none. The Perris DC 9 jumps I witnessed were from 14,000+ feet. Not much to hear. You could see the jumpers exiting without using binocs but it just looked like pieces of indistinct debris, sky trash... which some folks consider to be a very good description of skydivers. 3772018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Wierd, maybe not. Maybe related to the Dennis Levanen report? It seems to center around the fact of Heisson being on the flight path (downslope?) to PDX? Found several noise studies of the area and some pollution studies which specify Heisson. eg:http://www.travelmath.com/flight-emissions/from/PDX/to/98622 Carbon emissions between PDX and 98622 The total carbon emissions for a flight from PDX to 98622 is 9 lbs CO2. This is equivalent to 4 kg CO2e or 0.00 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents. With radiative forcing in effect, the carbon emissions may increase by 2.7 times, so the CO2 equivalents would then be 23 pounds, equivalent to 10 kilograms or 0.01 metric tonnes. These calculations are based on the distance from PDX to 98622, which is 15 miles or 24 kilometers. Your trip begins at Portland International Airport in Portland, Oregon. It ends at 98622 in Heisson, Washington Noise complaint filed - comment: "1405 Location: Heisson, WA ... I live under the flight path.... Dude that must suck! ... its horrible at times." I find a large number of noise abatement businesses advertising at Heisson and nearby ... aviation noise abatement. Maybe Dennis Levanen's report was a mistake and some other plane, not 305 ? Especially if Heisson is known for aviation (flight path) noise problems as a general fact of life there ???

But after watching it for several seconds, I had to get back to the business of getting to Bishop. Within a minute or two, the loudest noise I have ever heard in any aircraft caused me to practically jump out of my skin. In a glider a boom like that means bad news, such as the wings coming off. But in a couple of seconds I realized that everything was still under control and that had to be a sonic boom from the aircraft that I had seen which was probably 10+ miles away. I made it to Bishop later that afternoon with the new knowledge that sonic booms can be heard from quite a distance in gliders and probably in other airplanes as well. skyjack71 0 #19350 November 17, 2010 Tibetan exiles were trained to parachute at a place in Colorado from 1959 - 1964 Tibetans were taught how to jump at Camp Hale in Colorado from 1959 until 1964. http://www.asianamericanmedia.org/shadowcircus/camp.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_Hale Duane mentioned 2 camps - one not far from Ft. Collins where we lived and one in Leadville. He was supposedly in Canon City Prison from 1960-62. BUT, he told me about the "guys" and military manuevers. Senior residents of the Canon City area also told me a strange military presence in that area when I started to investigate Duane's background. Since Duane had reconnected with 3 guys in Ft. Collins area and Denver he knew from his past - he had every MOTIVATION to get out of the area very quickly after the money find in February of 1980. One of these guys played in a bar in a town South of Ft. Collins. It was a HOLE in tbe Wall bar. The guy played the steel guitar. The man's name was Rick and her's was Elaine. The man knew Duane from the past. This is the bar we went in where some young squirt would not let me pass in order to enter the rest room. When I quickly came back to my seat and told Duane what the man said, he got up and WALKED out of the bar and came back in with this large bulge under his leather dress jacket. Everyone in the bar who was aware of Duane's sudden trip to the car and the bulge in his jacket and what the young man had said to me had their eyes peeled our way. In fact if someone had dropped a glass about that time there might have been panic. Duane just sat there and glared at the man who had acted inappropriately. This young man immediately came over and was VERY apologetic about his behaviour to both Duane and me....explaining he had drank too much and that he was leaving. Duane accepted his apology and after the young man exited the bar - Duane pulled this LARGE (HUGE) SCREW DRIVER out of his coat and set it on the bar. The bar was in a ROAR. This steel guitar player and his wife had bought a motor home and where headed on a trip. At Christmas time we received a package from ANYWHERE, USA. Inside was a large gold painted Screw Driver with their names on it. I still have that Screw Driver. Now was this the ACT of a coward or a man who thought out the situation?Copyright 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 2013, 2014, 2015 by Jo Weber
