What about another nice review or perhaps one even nicer? Could there be such a divine missive?
Well why not check for your own self (see Even Nicer).
Nice how it is giving the highest of rating. This is one of the best things about the internet where consumers can exchange open and honest opinions about services and products. Gosh technology is great and free of undue influence or that Madison Avenue douchebaggery which we all detest.
It is a little strange that the title is written in the third person for another reader. Perhaps the hubby did not speak English or was dictating from an iron lung, I hate to speculate too much. Really doesn’t mean a thing because the title is still very, very nice.
A little more strange that it sounds more like copywriting rather than a review from a consumer. The dynamic duo…. umm… what’s up with that? Still can’t matter because being likened to Robin and Batman is really nice if not a little creepy.
Curiouser is that the honest reviewer hyperlinked the book which was being reviewed back to the book again.

Who does that? My bat senses tell me this may have been copied and pasted from another source. Holy Bat Shill! Could this have been the case?

Well I’ll be darned.
http://gladyshobson.wordpress.com/2011/03/23/into-the-blast/
The same nice review except with an acknowledgement that the book is well edited by the ‘author’ Geoff Nelder. Why did she single out the author Geoff Nelder?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qm4vDz7k2w4&feature=related
Well apparently Hobson also has numerous titles available from Amazon. Wanna guess who has been giving her glowing reviews? I know it doesn’t matter because they are all nice and that is the ultimate shield to any scrutiny or vetting (Many Nicer Reviews).
Still would be nice to read something that is free of abject manipulation or which resides on the less extreme margins of ethics. Yes I clearly live in a fantasy world that believes the DB Cooper crime will be solved honorably.

QuoteHi Pete,
You have definitely been the subject of some posts on this thread
Ditto, and welcome Pete! Definitely a fascinating life story.
So I am going to jump in and ask you a couple of questions
When you say
QuoteMy nick name for much of my adult life was Pete, not Dan
...does this mean you were known as Dan for some (presumably earlier part) of your adult life?
And
QuoteIt's interesting that so many people still imagine that D.B. Cooper is still alive. I thought that I solved that issue.
Can you explain - you clearly think Cooper is dead - did he die in the jump or pass away later? And how did you think you had solved the issue?
(Sometimes text does not come across well so just to clarify: not being combative, just curious!)
Edited to add: Carr is FBI, Smith is a reporter.
QuoteSo interesting. Just out of curiosity I Googled my name and was amazed. Page upon page of all sorts of information about me. Some was quite flattering. For a lonely old geezer it was inspiring. However I was stunned to find out that people were reading my book, The Idiot's Frightful Laughter. How could this have happened? Several years ago I was quite chagrin to learn that Bruce Smith had phoned my brother and crazy sister-in-law and printed their conversation on the site. So shocking.
I several interesting tales that occurred to me the other day, but I'll save them until later.
My nick name for much of my adult life was Pete, not Dan. It's interesting that so many people still imagine that D.B. Cooper is still alive. I thought that I solved that issue.
I sent an email the other day to the drop zone in Cloverdale about 16 miles from here. They are a bit dubious about letting an 85 year old geezer make a jump and I sure and hell am not going to make a tandom. Well, I am a bit hesitant having osteperosis.
Carr and Smith are FBI I assume.
.
Enough said.
Pete
Prove you are Sheridan Petersen. The Sheridan I communicated with sounds nothing like you and he has posted here in this thread in the past and has made posts. I have communicated with him by regular email also.
If you were Sheridan Petersen you would know who Smith is since he has attempted to communicate with you many times. Your posting sounds NOTHING like the Sheridan Petersen who has posted here under the name Eagle Eye.
I do NOT believe you are actually Sheridan. If you are tell me about some the personal emails you and I have shared. I am sure Eagle Eye saved a couple of those.
Prove YOU are Sheridan Petersen. Why is it you do NOT "speak" (on the computer) like the Sheridan I have spoke with in the past and the Sheridan who we all know to be the real Sheridan who has posted in the past on this thread.
QuoteI don't believe anyone in this forum thought Hangdiver was Pete. Pete came here using his own handle - one he uses when he visits other sites on the web.
Are you smoking Spice or Sally D or ole Mary Jane? The news papers here are full news coming from our bases. Not only have these things been ban, but personnel are restricted from going to certain business establishments catering to drugs and ones with reputations for problems.
Pete was Eagleeyewindsor
The above post was posted back a long time ago when someone else thought Hangdiver was Pete.
But Bulldog CLAIMS he is Pete.
377 - Remember this post you made!
QuoteHow could Jerry be personally aquainted with so many credible Cooper suspects???? I don't doubt the truth of his claims, but am amazed and confounded.
It's like there was a Cooper factory and Jerry worked on the production line.
Bruce could sure run with that one.

QuoteSheridan! Hi Pete, how you been I haven't talked to you since 1995. Glad your still kicking. So the book didn't do go so good . It should have.Guess snowmman is the only one that does, have a copy of your book. Guess Cooper didn't land in the river like you thought.Or like we discussed years ago.Ralph is still doing fine. get a chance call me the number is easy to find. Jerry
He therefore already knows who Bruce is and that he is NOT FBI.
Bulldog does reference here a coversation Bruce had with some old "acquaintances" of Sheridans.
Sheridan was NOT too happy about this contact by Bruce Smith.
Petersen like myself is getting old and the posts about him did NOT sit well. Note that Sheridan has Cancer.
Sheridan if you are actually Bulldog - I apologize up front, but I hate impostures and want to be sure BULLDOG is NOT an imposture. If you are Bulldog please then prove it.
QuoteBruce,
Why are you doing this to me? Alden and Barbara are winos. They've been winos for a long time. It sounds as though they were drunk when you called them. Ten years ago they consumed several gallons of an evening. The kind that comes in a box. Barbara has bipolar disorder.
Please leave my daughter alone. She has been a real nightmare. She is schizophrenic and is in a mental health facility. She is why I came down here from Deer Park. At the present she's disappear. I am in great distress.
You know that I am not D. B. Cooper. You may not like my antiwar crusade. The am a member of Veterans for Peace. We feel that Obama has deceived us. How you got a hold of my protest novel I can't imagine. However it has a copy write (or how ever you spell it) with the Library of Congress. This appears to be a personal vendetta. Why? I'm an old man with prostate cancer. It is at the critical stage. What is it you want?

I knew Sheridan was involved in the Freedom rides and there was a current re-enactment - I kept looking for him in the media clips, but figured maybe his health kept him from participating this time like he did so many many yrs ago. Those were the good Ole days when what we did meant something and what we did made changes.
Sheridans post to Carr:
QuoteHey Larry Carr:
I was not kicked out of China. That was Alan Pessin, Bureau Chief for VOA. He was kicked out for broadcasting my statement that Dein Zhao Ping and Li Pung were war criminals. I was in Akita, Japan when Pessin made the broadcast.
What has all this got to do with D.B.Cooper? Who are you anyway? Why the harassment?
Is it political? Are you CIA? Do think there is an Osama bin Lauden and an al Queada and that the aircraft fuel caused the World Trade Center to collapse? And that Saddam Hussain and bin Lauden are or were enemies of the U.S.? And that Israel is a democratic free society who has the Palestinians best interests at heart? Is that what it is all about?

The old post regarding his book:
QuoteSnowman,
Outside of the library of congress you are surely the only guy who has a copy of my book. I cancelled their connection after they goofed up the publication by putting the cover in the middle of the text. I wonder if anyone else has a copy? I wonder who got the $25? I don't know what to imagine.
I'll get back to you later after I can absorb this. I'm a bit overwhelmed.

Now below is the new post by "Sheridan" - do they sound like the SAME person to you guys?

Note: The real Peterson already knew about this site and what was on it because he posted here.
As for Peterson's stories that occurred to him the other day and he said he would save them till later - well, I for one would love to meet Pete in person and listen to and record all of the stories he can tell about his past - I personally think it is fascinating.
This is the past that will just disappear into oblivion and the new generations will have no records of the early days of skydiving or the experiences caucasions faced with their involvement during the days of intergration.
A good example is how little there is on the early days of forestry and smokejumping. Absolutely nothing to speak of on the Camino and Snowline areas. The records have been mininized, lost and thrown way. No one recorded these things in history. What is left of the history has been dispursed to different Fire districts in lots of states - Nothing was compiled in sequence and order and in its entirety,
I regret I was NOT interested in the past before Duane died - I didn't realize he held History within his memories of prisons and what life was like back in the 20's and 30's. I was NOT looking back - only forward and now I realize how important the past is and was.
Wish I could just travel back in time and redo my life...knowing what I know to day. I would have recorded everyday of my life no matter how insignifcant it was to me. I would have questioned everyone I met about their life and any involvment with any thing of historical interests. Wish I could remember the stories my great grandsmother used to tell about a wagon trains and the Indians - Now all of that is lost except the fragments I do remember. These Fragments are not enough for one page.Copyright 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 2013, 2014, 2015 by Jo Weber

Jeez Louise, Jo. take a breath. Before you run him off at least let the man take his hat off.
BTW.....good to see you've learned how to search for old posts.
You've had your say...now maybe you could just relax, back off and let the guy post??

Which makes me think...
Good exercise on how some people jump to conclusions when they think they are seeing something that confirms what they want to hear....

QuoteOops. Guilty as charged on jumping to that conclusion. Still hope it's Sheridan Peterson. Guess we'll know soon enough.
Its too bad 377 isnt here to work with this - he has
been looking forward to this for a long time. But
surely some of you diver folks can deal with this
and test it ... hope so.

Your statement "My nick name for much of my adult life was Pete, not Dan." Brings up the question that you do not remember in 1962 when you stayed at my house in Seattle for one month, that I called you Dan as it was easy for me to remember rather than Sheridan. Possibly I am the only one to call you Dan.
Anyway, good to see you posting again and possibly with your expertise you can shed some light on some of the questions that are still not answered.
The four parachutes had only two of interest to DB. The NB6 military issue and the Sport Chute, both back-type. The FBI would like us in the DropZone to believe that DB did not know what he was doing in taking and using the NB6. I believe the choice shows how smart and clever DB was in that he wanted to get down quickly and not be discovered. The Sport Chute would have had a 14 mph forward speed that would have been a killer in dropping into trees at night. The Sports Chute also would have been much easier to spot with its bright colors and float down slowly. The NB6 would have blended into the color of the clouds and dropped quickly. That is why the military use the round NB6 chutes.
So Pete, what is your take on the selection of chute? Do you buy the FBI story or was DB much more clever than they will admit?
Bob
To Pete:
The guys at Cloverdale are great, but it's not an ideal DZ for someone just getting current again. Landing area is kinda small compared to wide open DZs such as Lodi and Byron. There are rotors off the hanger building which must be avoided if it's windy. Not a dangerous DZ at all, just not the best for someone in your current status.
Let us know if and when will be jumping. I'd drive to any N. CA DZ to jump with you. It would be an honor.
On your China jump picture it looked like you had no cutaway hardware on your main. Is that correct?
