I've been reading this forum for a few weeks. There is a lot of knowledge and personal investment here. One of the things that makes it difficult is knowing who everyone is.

It would be helpful if some bios were available. I've tried to figure out some of you. If I'm wrong, or I left you out, would you mind responding to this post?

1) RobertMBlevins - co-author of a book making the case that Kenny Christenson, experience jumper and Northwest employee, was DB Cooper.

2) Georger - don't know exactly. Had contacts with FBI and helped bring Tom Kaye into the investigation.

3) JerryThomas - former Army Ranger who has spend months searching the Washougal River area searching for signs of the demise of DB Cooper.

4) SkyJack71 - widow of Duane Weber, who confessed to her as he was dying that he was DB Cooper.

5) 377 - Experienced skydiver, who believes DB Cooper could have survived the jump.

6) Marla - as 8 year old, heard uncles discussing hijack and observed her uncle badly injured the day after the hijacking.

7) Snowmann - The "Deep Throat" of the board. Nobody knows who he is.

8) BobKnoss - heard of conspiracy in Minnesota involving Richard Floyd McCoy and Duane Weber in the hijacking.

9) Ckret1 - FBI agent Larry Carr, formerly assigned to the case

10) EVickiW - daughter of Melvin Wilson, counterfeiter who disappeared shortly before the hijacking and hasn't been seen since.

A few more:

Orange One. South African, Skydiver. Sensible and rational other than continuing to post to this thread.

Guru312. Old school skydiver. He's not DB Cooper (follow the link in his sigline for a real treat). Pops in and out.

AirTwardo. Old, old school skydiver. Lights himself on fire in midair. Has all the good stories in the "Scary Stories from the Old Days" thread. If he ain't done it, it ain't been done.

SluggoMonster. Nuclear Genius. Has arguably the best website on the Cooper case.

SafecrackPLF. Hydrodynamic genius. Figured out where the money must have traveled to end up on Tena Bar. Gave up on the thread mostly a while back due to silliness but pops in every so often.

Farflung. Photoshop genius. His composites are masterpieces. Has a bit of a nun fixation, when he isn't hitting on Vicki. Thread "hunkyness" champion. But he was the only competitor.

Robert99. Serious contributor. Asks good questions. But most of them have no answer. Has good answers to a lot of questions.

Snowmman (2 "m"s) isn't Deep Throat. He's left enough clues to figure out who he is if you try.
He's a search genius, but his misbehavior got him banned. After he kept sneaking back in and rubbing in everyones faces (and a few PAs against the moderating staff) he got permabanned.

And last, but certainly not least.

Quade. World's most boring skydiver. Moderator of the forum. He's the poor guy who has to read all the garbage on here (and there's a lot of it) and make sure the rules are followed. Break the rules and you get warned. Keep doing it and you get a "time out." If that doesn't teach you, well... Ask jamie what happens.
Quade is a writer by trade and is pretty good at identifying writing styles. If you make up a new username after being banned (we call them "sock-puppets" on here) Quade will figure out who you are. That's how the Snowmman got it a few times.

Couple corrections:
Jerry has spent years not months in the Washougal area.

Larry Carr was never assigned the case. His speciality was bank robbers. He worked in the Seattle office (SAC maybe??) where all the NorJack files are and looked into it as a hobby/sideline kind of deal. Purely unofficial, but it sure would have been good for his career if he could have solved it.

I said this to Mr Blevins when he first showed up:
Welcome Mr Bennet. But be careful entering here. 377 calls it the "Cooper Vortex", I call it the "Cooper Zone". Same thing. You think you will just waltz in, look around and see what's going on. Maybe write a story about the case, maybe about the weirdos that are obsessed with it.

But it will get you. By the time you realize it, it will be far, far to late.
You can't leave it alone. You have to see what's new. To see what silliness certain folks have posted. To see Farflung's latest composite (to look for the Tina and the Cooper just like the Bunny on the Playboy covers).
You will be just like the rest of us!!!!!

Blevins thought I was kidding. He said goodbye a whole bunch of times. But he's still here.

THIS is the best synopsis of the whole thing I've come across. 377 thinks Snowmman did it, but just like NorJack, nobody but the perpetrator knows for sure.

Yup, figured that out a few minutes ago. I had the preconceived reporter notion about two weeks ago from information on your Facebook page.

Robert99 - Retired Aeronautical Engineer and general aviation pilot with a limited amount of skydiving experience. Believes Cooper died in the jump and that his name has never been mentioned on this thread.

Wolfriverjoe's assessment of me (and the others) is correct but it is very difficult to formulate questions for this thread that can provide meaningful answers. If you stick around for a while, you will understand what I mean.

I'm impressed, Vicki. I can see nobody is going to sneak anything past this board.:)
I'm really just interested in the topic. That I work for a newspaper is a coincidence. And, I respect everyone's opinion on here -- I don't think most people would spend so much time and energy here if they didn't believe it.

I hope I represented who you are honestly.

You forgot about smoking99. She is a Georgia peach that is an excellent resource at online database searches.

Smokin99 and Orange1 are 2/3rds of the Hunkettes.

And don't forget Amazon whose skydiving feats probably exceed those of everyone else on this thread combined.

Plus she's a heck of an angler.

And then there's Bruce Smith who has an on-line news blog and is writing a book. Recently came under fire for outing Tina. Routinely causes Blevins to have apoplectic fits with his journalistic escapades. :)

Mr. Bennett, JO Weber does NOT know Knoss. This man contacted me with some far-out things.

Tommy Gunn was not a made-up character. When I first mentioned Tommy to Knoss he had NO idea who he was. Tommy was a real person who lived in Mobile, Al and I met this man and called Tommy after I found out who Dan Cooper was 1yr and 2 months after Duane died.

Long story short - 3 months later Knoss creates a character for Tommy Gunn - an FBI agent and claims Weber was also an FBI. Knoss actually caused the FBI to ignore the best suspect the FBI ever had....because of his fantasy story.

The only thing I ever learned from Knoss was that Duane and his wife were indeed in Bloomington...for about 6 wks.
I had developed communications with the former wife and she had told me lots of things about her life with Weber, but had never mentioned Bloomington.

I contacted her about this - and her statement was "We were only there for about 6 wks while he was on the run". The time frames where only about 6 wks different and a lot of yrs had passed. This was the only thing Knoss ever said I could validate. She denied everything Knoss claimed. Two journalist/writers actually tried to check his story out but - nothing Knoss claimed existed.

I believe he did indeed meet Duane and his wife, but NOT under the circumstance Knoss has claimed. Ask Geoffry Gray about his experience with this man?

Now to repeat my Plea regarding Knoss:

Weber DID not bury a chute under a tower. Whew!

I am just about to BLOW - the co-pilot is NOT a friend of Knoss.

Knoss has NO RESPECT for anyone and I regret ever having spoke to him.

Until I "GOT" what he was all about, I actually thought he might know something. The more he talked the longer his NOSE grew.

One LOOK at the "photos" he presents as evidence is enough to scream: "Commit this man"!

I think I will go crawl in that Damn Rabbit Hole with Geoffry Grey - if I could only find it!

Scream: "GEOFFFFREEEEYY,
hellllppp, puullllleeease!"

Where are those Damn Tomatoe Cans!

RobertMBlevins says with authority and amnesia:

I would have submitted everything I found out about Kenny Christiansen to Geoffrey Gray and let HIM take the heat. No kidding. Besides, he was the one who first proposed Christiansen as a suspect, not me.”

Damn my tertiary syphilis and early onset Alzheimer’s, damn it all to hell. My brain continues to rot, as I would have sworn on a Bible and testified as a living witness that Lyle Christiansen was the one who ‘first proposed Kenny’ as a suspect and not some authors who were victims of his dastardly perfidy of deceit and stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNBWZw5H_LI

From Carola’s seductive lips to my smoldering heart, which burns with a fire of deception blazing with an indiscriminate, light that Vicki (and Tina in my fantasy) fans with reckless abandon while defiling all that is decent, as she mocks those whose actions can only produce shame and agony. Oh they don’t touch her with their hands; but she is abused with their being which cackles with delight at the arrival of every new thread commenter. Yes, for them Christmas and cruelty are indistinguishable with each New Year delivering a fresh, crisp sheet upon which to continue their sick and twisted avocations. Abandon all logic ye who enter the DBC thread.

You have been warned and stuff.

RobertMBlevins says carelessly:

You know perfectly well what I meant, Farflung.”

Oh did I? Sure looked like an author/scribe was trying to take credit for identifying Kenny Christiansen as a suspect instead of the genuine finger pointer. Just sayin.

I suppose you are right in saying Christiansen's brother was the first to come out and say he thought Kenny could be the hijacker. That's true. Gray did the first investigation, with some assistance from Porteous. Later, Porteous came to me with the book proposal. I've always regretted that Porteous cut Gray out of the information loop at that point. It would have been better if either Gray alone, or the two of us together, had interviewed the witnesses. I think both Skyjack and Into The Blast would have been the better for it.

Self-doubt and wondering. Two of the things that go along with the Cooper Curse. [:/]

Are you kidding me, Robert99? I simply state my case, my information on one particular issue and I get these disrespectful, retaliatory responses from someone I don't even know. I have a right to my opinion -- whether you think so or not. It's called freedom of speech, and I believe I've signed up on a forum that respects that right. So, bite me!

My apologies to smokin99 and most sincere, heartfelt apologies to Amazon. I knew I was missing a couple. I remembered smokin99 while in the shower this morning (nothing weird or stalky, just one of those "D'oh" moments).

Others...
Well, there are a number that I chose not to list. For a variety of reasons. One of those reasons is that putting my personal opinion of them on here would constitute a PA and I choose not to do that.

Mr Blevins - YOU WERE WARNED!!:ph34r::ph34r:

You certainly are entitled to your opinion. But when you state a fact (the weather conditions) that are in direct opposition to the historical record, you can expect to get challenged on it. The opinions that turn into myth that get mistaken for fact are one of the biggest challenges in this case. The ones who have been around a while know this and insist on backup for anything proposed as a fact. And eyewitness testimony is often faulty. So official, historical records are usually given greater weight.

The official weather reports from numerous locations, the FBI report, even the TV news reports (the outside shots) all indicate the same thing. 40s, scattered light rain/snow showers, winds below 20.
I'm not saying you are a liar, but how do you reconcile the difference?
Mountainous areas often have very localized weather patterns, some of which can be severe. Perhaps that played a part.

And don't make the mistake of thinking you have freedom of speech on here. It's a private site, owned by South Africans, hosted on servers in Canada. The rules (listed in the "Announcements" fourm) make it clear that you are a guest here. We all are.

Invitations to be bitten are invitations of Quade's wrath. Go back and read the very first post of this thread for the reality of it.

Mark Bennett: Hows Sussane Gilmore doing, Have you heard from Marla since Face Book. Jerry

Since you asked, I emailed Susan and she told me she's retiring tomorrow after 33 years at the Seattle Times. She says she knows you well and you call her often. I told her I'd pass on her retirement news to you.

I haven't heard much from Marla -- not surprising since I really only know her from the symposium. I think she's busy writing.

Leave it to Hollywood with this long forgotten gem:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8ov77VMDy0

Since the TV is where most Americans obtain their education this seemed perfectly appropriate.

In the first three seconds you can see their version has DB ‘backing’ down the stairs. This should dispel any fantasies someone may have about being the ‘first’ to suggest that possibility. But it won’t.

From (0:06 0- 0:09) one can observe the behavior of the stairs when the actor jumps. I realize this is from a movie and not nearly as technical as all the previous guessing here and I don’t know the velocity of the aircraft or if the stairs were modified in any way. With that in mind, those stairs didn’t appear to return to the shut position at all.

Gosh all this in a scant nine seconds. It won’t matter as there has been way too much invested, time wise in contrary theories and junk science for this to go gently into the night sweet prince. Nope, it will be ignored for a few days or weeks then brought up again. Or modified with some of the most mind numbing qualifiers ever written, like; by ‘backing down’ I was suggesting that I was the first to say it on a Tuesday, while eating a Ho-Ho and wearing a grass skirt.

that clip is interesting, what I would like to know is if any difference happened after he jumped like the FBI concluded in recreation using the same plane DB used? maybe someone should contact "mythbusters" and see what they come up with?
