Cooper" skyjacking case remained as much a mystery as ever Saturday with the latest set of tantalizing possibilities- a weathered skull, clothing remains, and a parachute hanging from a tree- apparently ruled out of contention. Cooper, one of the first in the nation's series of skyjackings, jumped Thanksgiving Eve, 1971, from a Boeing 727 somewhere south of Woodland, Wash., with $200,00 in $20 bills strapped to his body. He had seized the Northwest Airlines jet between Portland and Seattle, received the money in Seattle, and ordered the crew to fly to Reno, Nev. En route he disappeared. The skull, that of a Caucasian in his early 30s, was found Thursday in the Mt. Hood National Forest 10 miles east of Estacada. Near the skull was a parachute hanging high in a fir tree. The Clackamas County sheriff's office said clothing was found in the area earlier, but it had not been connected with the Cooper case. A spokesman said the parachute was believed to be from a weather balloon. "I'm satisfied it's not him," said Dr. Larry Lewman of the state medical examiner's office, who studied the skull and checked with the FBI. Dr. Lewman said the skull was of a person younger than the description of Cooper, who was believed to be in his late 40s or early 50s. Lewman said the plane's flight path was west of Portland and the chute was found east of the city. Sheriff's deputies said the skull may have been of a hunter or missing pilot. Deputies were unable to thoroughly inspect the area until spring because of three feet of snow covering the ground. Harold K. Clark, special FBI agent in charge, said his agents are continuing to investigate the Cooper affair, one of the top cases in the Pacific Northwest. But he said, "Nothing's cooking." I have read this article before and there are some things in it that seem to have changed. Can we retrive the archived article in it's original format for the newpaper it was printed in. Lots of advancements in ID technology since 1975 - but then the FBI comes up with the 3 particle DNA out of the blue sky. One would have thought with the development in DNA the authorities would have by now have check the DNA from the skull. It is what-ever fits the whim of those who want to continue the sage forever! Wonder if they ever followed up in the spring. State of the art 1970's Pulse Acquisition type 40KV Magnetron. Give you very accurate position & range data. Anyone w/ a PPI radar screen in front of them would knowexactly where the plane was at all times, especially w/ chase planes in the air too They counted out the skull because the plane was W of PDX ?? Blevins may be in contact with some producer somewhere who has some relationship to NPR, or just knows someone at NPR ... which Blevins is then peddling as being N.P.R., but if nobody at NPR knows anything about it, well then .... who knows. Ive always thought about living in New England. I work on data and student papers late - quiet time. Just me and the crickets and critters... furnace on and the windows open. Considering the GUEST list sounds like some one is again jumping into the woods on the story I started. Retired CIA Officer! Now that is a good one considering that is exactly what I have maintain all of these yrs! More like the Covert CIA actions. With Jerry Thomas being there you know he will pack it with the same lie he has told for yrs. Galen Cook some reason is stuck on this. I have every EMAIL I ever exchange with him and if he uses it - he will PAY De GAL! He lifted his finger prints and confession off of the story I told about Duane leaving his prints on the Aft Stairs. I have dated and printed emails of the time and date I told him this and it was BEFORE he ever had his suspect - Gossett. Cook then inserts in his story and after the fact about prints and a confession to a judge, regarding a suspect that was NOT a suspect until after that email was made to Galen by me. I would like to watch it but I do not get travel channel and the people that I trusted move - probably would have to take something for anxiety. The news we have should be made public before the 10th....if the FBI co-operates. One damn thing for sure Gossett was NOT Cooper nor any other suspect Cook had. Cook used me to pick out things I gave him in email - but I covered my ASS in print, NOT something that was on this thread. ' We had some rather heavy communications for a long time and then he didn't need me anymore after he played with the GOSSETT Story and made him Fit the story with information I provided 1st and by my damn self. Anything Jerry Thomas is going to participat in will lean far to the left - wondered why he called me all chummy a couplel of wkes ago - still cliaming I rented a car in 2000 When I went out for a documentary provided a 2 yr colledge student as a guide - the took me every which way but right and drove like a maniact. At the very least it shows where the FBI thought the plane was west of PDX.. Put yourself in their shoes.. they had a command post at PDX Airport. They would have had a man or two in the tower. What would you do if you were H? I would want minute by minute positioning data on Coopers plane, especially when they know he is about to jump right?? How about this: FBI says drop zone is E of I-5 & N of Battleground because they don't want people searching in the correct location. ??
