I would see the ticket one more time - in his sock & underwear drawer and then it disappeared. The statement I made that night was "Oh, you found that old ticket". Remember he must have retrived it from the box! If I stated a color or colors it would have been in my original communications with Himmelsbach. It is not a memory I have retained. It was a carbon, but I think some of the printing on it was red, but am uncertain of that memory after all of these yrs. It was a PDX ticket to Seattle from Portland dated Nov. 1971. Just a few days ago on the news there was this guy who had embezzled a bunch of money and then was declared dead by a Florida judge. The feds didn't believe he was dead and kept searching for him and he was caught in a random traffic stop in Georgia. My wife was telling me about this over dinner the other day. This lead us to remember another wealthy guy who about a couple of years ago while supposedly flying his airplane, but they never found him or the airplane. I asked my wife if she had ever heard of the guy who hijacked a plane and got around a million dollars in ransom money, and after he released the hostages he was flying to Canada or something and as it turned out he had snuck a parachute on the plane and jumped out never to be seen again. She had never heard of this, and so I looked it up online. I clearly had some details wrong, but it peaked my curiosity. That was about five days ago or so. I'm not a jumper, I'm a diver (the underwater kind). Although there is a very large DZ just miles from my home, I've never made the plunge as it were. I have a B.A. in Criminology from a major university, and I work in the investigations field, although I'll be clear that I am not a LEO, and just to put Jo at ease I'm going to come out and say I am also not a scum bag PI either (or a non scum bag PI for that matter). Never been to OR, and only to WA once (twice technically) when we took our daughter and mother-in-law on an cruise to Alaska about five years back. And while I've read many books, I've never written or edited one myself. That being said - I take exception shoddy work of any kind, especially by so--called professionals. Now I said my piece before and I'm not trying to get anything riled up again. It's just that since investigation, criminal investigation, and the legal system are things I hold in high regard, I was very put-off by your work. Especially so since you're supposed to be a professional editor and you should have known better. There was even a question on this thread whee someone asks you if you've ever submitted your work for peer-review, and you responded about how you never edit your own books, and editing is about putting the work in the best light. I wanted bang my head on a table! Mr. Blevins, the peer-review process isn't having your book edited. The peer-review process is about submitting submitting a finalized completed and published work to other experts in the same field so that those experts can go through the work under a microscope, for lack of a better term. Those experts then determine if the original work was flawed in any way and publish an article on their findings. That is the peer-review process. Not hiring an editor to edit the content of your book in the best light. Now last as far as that YT vid goes. I'm sorry that you fell and hurt yourself. At the end of the day you did get your point across and I'm sure you can argue that was all you care about. But you had bad lighting, pictures falling down... With ten minutes of off camera effort you could have had a much better promotion for your book. ----- All that being said, I will give credit where credit is due. I believe it was you who pointed out the problem with the three separate bundles of found money ending up in the exact same place. I read that, and at the time I read it nothing clicked in my head that there was a problem. I don't even have an issue with then ten missing bills because those could have slipped out during the fall, Cooper could have put some money in his pocket while on the plane as pocket money so he wouldn't have to open the tied money bag until he was safe at home, they could even have disintegrated over the years. But I just can't think of any reasonable way that had the money not been packaged together in three bundles (and nobody has ever said it was) that it would fall from the sky and end up in exactly one spot together nearly ten years later.
