Kelly 0 #1 April 10, 2002 Brought the local Ambulance squad (of which I'm a member & an EMT for) and the local fire department out tonight to go over gear and equipment. Krusey ran the show & I helped him explain the jobs of the main and reserve canopies, RSL's, cypres', and leg straps that have the buckles vs the ones that dont. We also went over how to remove gear, where to cut the harness if it needs to be cut and how to cutaway a main canopy. Krusey explained everything that we could think of that is relative to any rescue efforts. When Krusey was finished I led several of the EMT's thru stabilization of a patient. Longboard, collars, CIDS and removal of the rig. I taught them how to take a rig off part by part until it finally slips off when youve got the patient on the long board. (For details email me @ freefrogfall@hotmail.com) We put special emphasis on tree landings b/c we have so many around the dz.later this month their all coming out again to go over the airplanes (it was raining tonight)the season is starting. Lets make sure that our local rescue squads are at least familiar with skydiving gear and operations. For any information, suggestions or ideas regarding how to get the EMS squads more involved at your dz drop me an email and ill pass on what i've learned. kelhttp://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/

AggieDave 6 #4 April 10, 2002 Kelly, that is a great idea! Hopefully more DZs will do something similar, I'm going to mention it to my DZO. "Are they short-shorts?" T.B.
