howardwhite 6 #1 February 1, 2009 Jerry Irwin, for many years one of the best and most prolific skydiving photographers, has begun posting some of his collection of pictures on Flickr. Pictures of people, canopies and airplanes that will bring back great memories for a lot of people here. HW

Thanks for that, Howard. I'm amazed how many DZs that I think I recognized. Plus, all the people who I knew from so many years ago. The one of Steve Snyder was particularly moving. I introduced my younger daughter to him a few weeks before his tragic accident. Thanks, Jerry!Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

murrays 0 #8 February 1, 2009 Great photography! I love the God's Work shot. I have a question though...was Jerry Irwin the skydiving photographer that published an article on the Amish in National Geographic many years ago? I love the shot of Tom and Corky...there is another shot of them from maybe the same skydive in one of the Skies Call books and I've always liked it...just looks like a loose fun skydive. patmoore 14 #14 February 2, 2009 Great chance to revisit old memories! Jim Stoyas, Steve Snyder, Chet Poland and many more. Jerry took this photo of my ex and me over Zephyrhills sometime in the early 70s. He gave us the blown up 11x16 as well as the negative and never even charged us for his jump! He's a class act. We used that picture for our Christmas card that year and I still have the original.DZGone.com B-4600, C-3615, D-1814, Gold Wings #326, Diamond Wings #152. howardwhite 6 #15 February 2, 2009 Another in my never-ending quest to make old pictures look better... Note that if you looked at Jerry's pictures a few days ago and not since, you should go back. He seems to add new ones every day. HW
howardwhite 6 #16 February 3, 2009 I've exchanged emails with Jerry today (I had some issues with location info on one of his pics.) And there are even more of his great pictures on line than there were a few hours ago. He's thinking about jumping and thinking about going to the Pioneers of Sport Parachuting Reunion in Raeford in May. There's at least a possiblity Chip Maury will also be there. How cool would it be to meet up again with a couple of the best cameramen around? Maybe we need to ask Andy Keech to come, too. HW

Yesterday it looked like that white thing was on the outside of the lines, like a pilot chute hanging off the end of a bridle dangling from the apex. But I couldn't see a bridle, and it didn't look like a pilot chute. So, thanks for clearing that up for me, and making my brain interpret correctly what I was seeing.
