howardwhite 6 #2 August 12, 2009 What else can we possibly post? (Well, there is a new windblade in the 121PM colors). (And a new set of door/exit lights which blink like Christmas tree ornaments.) I've made several jumps out of it/her this week. HW
ZigZagMarquis 9 #3 August 12, 2009 Quote And a new set of door/exit lights which blink like Christmas tree ornaments Yeah, I've noticed that in some of the Skydive Pepperell videos on YouTube in which jumps were made from 1PM. I suppose Junior and Emiko have embraced the late 20th century and installed a GPS in 1PM as opposed to letting jumpers spot the old fashioned way? I suppose the new lights are part of that??
howardwhite 6 #4 August 12, 2009 Well, yes, there is a GPS. The lights are not, AFAIK, connected to it in any way. HW

ZigZagMarquis 9 #7 August 13, 2009 Ah yes! A GPS installed in a jump plane in true skydiver fashion... zip tied to the yoke! So when is Junior going to install the Heads Up Dispaly (HUD)??

ZigZagMarquis 9 #12 August 22, 2009 Some folks have asked about N122PM... twin otter s/n 15... I found the attached photos of her on the web. The first, from June 79, sporting a really old Pilgrim Airlines paint job that I didn't ever know of. The second, from Aug 83, with the same paint job still seen on N121PM. The third, from Oct 2005, with a new paint job. At least there's still a jump door on her. Supposedly, she's still hauling jumpers in Texas. Hope so. That would be Skydive San Marcos. (Scroll to the bottom of the page.) 125PM is at Mile Hi in Colorado. Picture is from a long time ago, when it was at Pepperell for a Halloween boogie. The plywood door with the pumpkin fell out on the way to altitude one load and was never seen again.HW
ZigZagMarquis 9 #14 August 23, 2009 Cool! Thanks Howard. I tried searching Texas DZs today, but didn't have any luck. Guess I just didn't know where to look.

ZigZagMarquis 9 #16 August 29, 2009 *confused* How is it N125PM went from being a short nosed Otter to a long nosed Otter? Was DeHavilland doing that major an airframe overhaul on some?
howardwhite 6 #17 August 29, 2009 Quote How is it N125PM went from being a short nosed Otter to a long nosed Otter? They took off the short one and bolted on the long one.HW
ZigZagMarquis 9 #18 August 29, 2009 ... well, I hope it was more rivets than bolts... if it was a bunch of skydivers that did it, it was probably just duct tape and chewing gum...
ZigZagMarquis 9 #19 September 11, 2009 I came across this listing of what used to be Pilgrim Air's Otters. As we know, 121PM, 122PM and 125PM all went on to and still are jump planes, not sure what became of the others. Too bad we can't get 121PM, 122PM and 125PM together for a formation load! deHAVILLAND CANADA DHC-6 TWIN OTTER N121PM 100 14 10/66 03/86 N122PM 100 15 N346MA 01/70 03/86 N123PM 100 25 N7702 /74 06/75 N124PM 100 41 04/67 02/10/70 WO Long Island Sound, New London, CT N125PM 100 89 01/68 03/86 N126PM 300 275 SE-GTU 11/83 03/86 N127PM 300 105 N244GW 09/70 02/21/82 cvtd DHC-6-100; WO near Providence, RI N128PM 100 109 N7711 05/72 03/86 N129PM 100 114 04/79 03/86 N201E 200 126 N870SA / / ex Newair N239Z 300 239 N80701 / / ex Newair N67CA 100 114 SE-FTE 05/78 04/79 RR N129PM N716NC 100 110 N925SM 02/85 03/86 ex Newair
pilotdave 0 #20 September 14, 2009 129PM is a jump plane... Z-hills I believe. It's the green Freefall Express otter. Edit: Some google searching shows a couple of them crashed with Pilgrim (124 and 127), and 128pm is also a jump plane now registered as N24HV (at Cross Keys I guess). howardwhite 6 #21 September 14, 2009 Quote Some google searching shows a couple of them crashed with Pilgrim (124 and 127) Yes. That would be the references to Rhode Island (on the ice on the Scituate Reservoir, minor injuries, IIRC) and Long Island Sound (ran out fuel under IFR conditions and all died.) ZigZagMarquis 9 #22 September 15, 2009 Quote ... and Long Island Sound (ran out fuel under IFR conditions and all died.) HW Man that sucks. That's like #3 of the most useless things in aviation... and its corollary, #4: 1) Runway behind you. 2) Altitude above you. 3) Air in the tanks. 4) Fuel on the ground. OBTW... the only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.

That means if you could get them all together at the same place / same time, one could do a 100+ way formation load using just ex-Pilgrim Air turned jump plane Otters. Come-on! That's gotta be worth an article in Parachutist!
