airdrew20012001 0 #26 February 27, 2002 Not to pile on stuff but a friend of mine, Earnie, failed two or three levels for failure to be altitude aware. He plowed through the hard deck. I agree with what others say. Plan the dive and dive the plan. Relax and have fun, this is supposed to be a sport, not a job. At least not yet. I knew one AFF master who used to tell his students if they didn't smile at least once he would fail them. Fun is key.Drewfus McDoofus
Ducky 0 #27 February 27, 2002 my $.02I managed to get through AFF in 7 jumps. I attribute my instant addiction to the sport and my thirst for my knowledge that led me here and many other places to get all the info and tips I could. The only issues I had were my forward movement in level 4. It has been talked about here before. I was afraid of being to aggressive and slamming into my instructor. He told me afterwards that I couldn't hit him if i wanted to, and actually dared me to try on level 5. I still didn't really zoom in on him, but definately noticed the difference when you get those legs out like they should. Being aggressive to a certain extent is not a bad thing in my opinion.AFF-Is should be able to fly the pants off anyone else in the sky and do loops around students, that is what they are trained and certified to do. To stay with or chase down an outta control student and make sure he lives. Trust your instructors, BUT take responsibility for your on safety. One last thing, not sure if they cover this in the SIM...You know what to do if the chute doesn't open right???????Just walk towards the bright light my friend!!! hahahaSmile n have fun!kwakStupidity is a crime. wndrer73 0 #29 February 27, 2002 I've heard you can go to wind tunnels in Las Vegas and Orlando, but are there any other places in the U.S. which offer wind tunnel-training? Difficult to believe they're the only ones!Although, it WOULD be fun to go to vegas!!!
skymedic 0 #30 February 27, 2002 From what i hear the tunnel's in vegas and pigeon forge are more touristy....I have not been there and can't really comment on them accurately other than hear say...Now the tunnel in Orlando I have been to....it is clean air all the way around and really is nice....I would recommend this and so do all the major teams....i.e. airspeed, magik, etal...marcBSBD
PhillyKev 0 #31 February 27, 2002 Haven't been to a tunnel either but from what I understand Orlando is the only one that is sucking air. The fan is at the top and draws air up so that the entire tunnel is in the air stream. The one in Vegas is blowing up so you can inadvertently get outside the airstream on the sides.cielos azules y cerveza fría-Kevin
skymedic 0 #32 February 27, 2002 I forgot to add that part...that is why the tunnel at Orlando is better cause of the venturi it has from drawing air from the top.....then is can speed the air up through the tube using physics...marcBSBD
