skypuppy 1 #1 April 28, 2014 someone mentioned tandem rw in another post, and it got me thinking. I thought I'd seen a picture, maybe on Parachutist cover, of an eight-way built with 4 tandems drogue-less (ie 4 tandem masters hooked up, each with passengers). I think they might have been the Golden Knights. Or it could have been in skydiving magazine. Anybody have a copy of this mag and can post a scan?If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 April 28, 2014 No, it's better than that: The German military used to send out a picture/poster every year of their exploits. One had a formation of at least eight tandem pairs docked in a star. It may have been that same pic that had all of them with roller skates on! You can't make that shit up, kids. lekstrom10k 0 #3 April 28, 2014 There was a picture with two tandems in an eight or 10 way over Ohare airport with jets taking off and landing. Nice picture the you saw what month it was then April Fools issue. Some still believe its real.
mjosparky 4 #4 April 29, 2014 This is a picture of a 35 way over perris. It was "Jump for the Cause" for spinal cord injuries. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
SkymonkeyONE 4 #5 April 29, 2014 Another note: When Beezy Shaw died from cancer a number of years ago we all met up for his ash dive down at Skydive The Farm in Rockmart, GA. The ash dive was, as I recall, a 18-way with two tandems on opposite sides. I was on that jump. Chuck
jdobleman 0 #6 April 30, 2014 There may have been a dual tandem RW jump at one of the Belize Boogies. Just sayin'. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone. steve1 5 #7 May 5, 2014 We built an eight-way around a tandem once. That is small doings compared to multiple tandems in a formation. That tandem master had his drogue out, and it was his passenger's first jump. I imagine it would be very hard or impossible for a tandem to fly very far with a drogue. I imagine it could be done if you had experienced passengers and no drogue out.
JerryBaumchen 1,363 #8 May 5, 2014 Hi steve, We did the same thing at a boogie in Madras, OR. The TI only insisted that people he knew gripped directly onto him, one on each side. Then we could come in and close as we wanted. The tandem student was a very experienced jump pilot so he sort of knew what to expect.
