From the tunnel aff thread..

Recommended Posts

I saw a post (maybe more) where people, PRIOR to taking AFF, are getting instructed in the tunnel on how to fly in the mantis position.

Now, we dont have a tunnel next door here in Canada, so jumpers who have significant tunnel time before taking pff/aff is very rare, but as an instructor, I would want my student in the most stable position for the forst few PFF jumps: in a box.

What do you guys who instruct in florida and other places where this is more commun do?

I just had a very positive experience with a student who was having confidence issues on her Cat D's.

On her own, she decided to attend an organized tunnel camp. She came back with a new confidence in herself and really nice turns.

The tunnel coaches adapted their program to suit her, and didn't push the mantis on her. It worked out great.
