TheMarshMan1 0 #1 January 7, 2002 The discussion on licenses reminded me of something I read a while back. Apparently there was some attempt in the works to eliminate the night jump requirement for the D-License....just curious, what ever became of that?
SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 January 7, 2002 You are still required to make a minimum of two night jumps for your D-license: one solo and one relative work. Night jumps are fun.ChuckMy webpage HERE
dove 0 #3 January 7, 2002 I have only done one but it was AWESOME! I still need to do my 2-way for my D. I was gonna do it over labor day weekend but that whole accident thing kinda got in the way. You will really enjoy it if you try it. Just do the whole safety/training thing and no worries! Yippee! Fun. Next full moon I am there!
Aviatrr 0 #4 January 8, 2002 Quote Next full moon I am there! You going to do 'em at Lake Wales or ZHills? I need another night jump, and I'm gonna go to Lake Wales on the 26th to do a couple......or maybe ZHills if they do 'em..Mike
dove 0 #5 January 8, 2002 I was thinking Lake Wales... cause Zhills doesn't light up the landing area the way I like. You rely on moonlight whereas I prefer a bunch of headlights for added safety. Haven't asked Lake Wales what they do about that. However, it just occurred to me I'll be doing the AFC Championship game that weekend so I'll have to wait a while. :( Stupid, stupid job! PhreeZone 20 #6 January 8, 2002 I know Lake Wales uses as many cars as they can get their hands on to light up the Landing area. I just did a night jumper there 2 weeks ago. I want to touch the sky, I want to fly so high ~ Sonique
TheMarshMan1 0 #7 January 8, 2002 Oh, dont get me wrong...I havent done any night jumps yet, but I sure as hell cant wait to. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE flying at night...dont know why, just something surreal about it I guess.... Anyways, thanks for the answer, I was just curious...Blue Skies,Marshall
 Strynx 0 #8 January 8, 2002 Just curious on how a night jump can affect the depth perception. How do you go about timming your landing with shadowa and everything?
 dove 0 #9 January 8, 2002 Thanks Phree! Then Lake Wales it is....next time I get some time off during a full moon. Yippee! Night jumps are super fun - very surreal like Marshall said. And cause they are new and different there is a little bit of fear tossed into the recipe which I SO feed on! I didn't have any trouble with depth perception since the landing area was so lit up by cars. Nice sweet tiptoe landing. That's why I prefer a place that does do the carlight thing. One tip if you do go - pay attention to the landscape the whole way up and choose new landmarks as your normal landmarks may not be visible at night! This was especially important to me as I was jumping at a dz with a grass runway so not as easy to spot to begin with! Have fun! Lake Wales was very cool I enjoyed it very much, and the Brit giving the breifing was hilarious.
