skydiverek 63 #1 November 28, 2006 I know it's kind of an old video, but here it is: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=570&string=aff1_collision
Cacophony 0 #2 November 28, 2006 Neither instructor had very good control at pull time. That wasn't even THAT bad of a student. What sucks is that stupid chest mounted ripcord. That does nothing for promoting good body position. Either way, the instructors failed to maintain stability and control the student and they both allowed themselves to get into very bad spots. icevideot 0 #4 November 29, 2006 Just FYI for those that are bashing the new rating system, both of those instructors were very current and trained under the old AFF program. It is a good reminder we have to constantly work to stay ahead of the curve. I am glad no one was injured."... this ain't a Nerf world."
billeisele 130 #5 November 29, 2006 this gear does NOT have a chest mounted ripcord the instructor is highly qualified but got caught out of position at pull time what we can learn from this is to bring your "A" game on every jumpGive one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
jimmytavino 16 #6 November 29, 2006 ....very interesting... not unlike the "hairy-scarey" sorts of things which DO sometimes occur... My beef would be with the video guy... In an effort to get the footage on TV he sits in a hangar and "embellishes" the situation. making somewhat overdramatic assumptions and statements... as a cameraman,,, I have seen nearly as bad,,, during an RW funnel..... I hope all were ok...

I watched it with the sound down the first time Currency can sometimes equal complacency.

"the skydive went bad about five seconds out the door..." bull. Cheers, Travis
tdog 0 #9 December 11, 2006 In slow mo - it appears that the reserve side only had one hand on the student - so when the student and mainside were slide siding his way at pull time - no matter how fast he could backslide, he could not get out of the burble... Scary... I learned a few things by watching the video... I kind of wish the person who sold it (I suspect the video guy since he was interviewed and only his name was used) - would have not sold it but instead shared it with the community in a constructive way.
