johnny1488 1 #1 December 19, 2001 I was messing around with my steering toggles this weekend and had a thought. I want to get to the very bottom of my flare but I dont want to shorten my toggles. When I take a conventional wrap I am pulling the tail down slightly with my hands all the way up. What I wanted to do was put my hand through the toggle and grab close to the attatchment point with my hand. That way I dont lose full flight but gain a couple inches on the flare. Is there a saftey issue with having my hand through the toggle slightly, like if I have to cut away or drop a toggle for whatever reason, wrap, collision ect. Spectrejumper 0 #2 December 19, 2001 I put my hands completely through the toggles on every jump. So does everybody else I know. I would be much more concerned about a toggle slipping out of my hand if I didn't. Plus I can't think of a reason why you would need to suddenly drop a toggle. weid14 0 #3 December 19, 2001 what happens if UR doing CrW and are in a wrap? I'd want to be able to drop one of those suckers quick. I like holding my toggles in my fingers for two reasons, If I'm all the way through and I front riser to a flare, how do I know the flare is going to be even?(one toggle offset on the wrist?) and it actaully let's more brake line be free when using front risers
Geoff 0 #4 December 19, 2001 QuoteI put my hands completely through the toggles on every jump. Just to clarify this - I put my four fingers but not thumb through the loop, so the toggle sits around the middle of my hand below the knuckles, but above the thumb. I think this is what most people do. Is that what you mean? Some people only put 2 or 3 fingers through. Then the loop sits around the fingers rather than the hand, and seems much likely to get dropped. Dangerous.Geoff

weid14 0 #6 December 19, 2001 yes that makes more sense... I use three fingers in the toggle and two on the front riser dive loops so my toggle is secure.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #7 December 21, 2001 I have four fingers through the toggles and riser-dive with three of them while holding the toggle in place with my pinkie. I rear riser with my thumbs.ChuckMy webpage HERE
