base698 19 #51 February 17, 2004 Does anyone know what kind of tunnel this is? It says L1 does anyone know anything about the design? Bottom fans or top mounted?
Bodyflight.Net 0 #52 February 17, 2004 It utilizes a different design concept altogether and doesn't work like the other tunnels you've seen. This tunnel is QUIET. We know everything about the design and you could do some clicking around in our sites and find out more.
base698 19 #53 February 17, 2004 Where is the Appalachain one? I had heard about that but didn't know it was open yet.
Bodyflight.Net 0 #54 February 17, 2004 It's in Western part of the state just off the interstate, near Cataloochi Ski Resort. It IS NOT open yet, and there is no projected date for opening. This is the prototype facility and other's like it will be built. AT SOME POINT in the near future it will be operational to some degree which we have not decided on yet. We hope to initiate it's Grand Opening with a world wide audience and party!! It can accommodate several hundred. It was built to demonstrate that a wind tunnel can be efficient, safe and quiet all at the same time.

Bodyflight.Net 0 #56 February 17, 2004 That information is available to interested buyers. You did find contact information on the site. There is no selling on DZ.com forums so I am walking a fine line here...

Is there any update available on when this tunnel will break ground, if it hasn't already? Also, who controls the hiring, the local site, or the corporate office? I am not sure what his secondary plan is, but it positively sucks that the original site was not satisfactory; it's maybe a half mile from the dropzone. Chuck
 sergant 0 #71 February 26, 2005 Guys, I heard the rumor that tunnel in NC is open now. Did anybody go in there? How is the wind? Is it enough for 2-way (200 lbs each) in competition suits?
 slotperfect 7 #72 February 26, 2005 Regarding the Skyventure Raeford tunnel, the subject of this thread, that rumor is far from true. They have not broken ground on the Raeford tunnel, I am told because the crew is still finishing Eloy's tunnel, which is also behind schedule. I have also heard that there are questions about the proposed site as Chuck mentioned above, but the "version" of that conversation I heard was not definitive. The only thing "official" I have read is "Opening mid-2005." The Bodyflight Tunnel (Appalachian Amusement Center) near Maggie Valley (Western NC) has been open for quite some time. I have not flown in it, so I can't answer your questions effectively. DO a search because there have been other threads in the forums about it.Arrive Safely John
 pullhigh 0 #73 August 20, 2005 *Bump* Any word on what the situation is on breaking groung in Raeford?
