Jib 0 #1 December 1, 2004 I stayed at the Motel 6 near the Orlando tunnel on Saturday night. It's left about a block down Int'l Dr. from the tunnel and sits a block back on the left. Rooms were brand new and clean. There were a lot of loud families on the 3rd floor, which quieted down by 11pm. Two institutional firm but not like a rock mattresses. Triangular shower. I was surprised by the lobby's security though. Cheap formica/particle board furniture. No shampoo. Great a/c thermostat. It's not the Ritz but for $30/night (mentioning the tunnel) it rocks! -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. pilotdave 0 #5 December 2, 2004 I took arlo's advice and stayed their twice. I was actually there during hurricane charley, watching palm trees falling outside my window. It's perfectly nice and I plan to stay there again next month when I'm getting some tunnel time. As Jib said, no shampoo. But the walgreens around the corner has little 99 cent bottles... Also no locks on the bathroom doors, so if you plan to stay with a group of skydivers with a sick sense of humor, bring a door stop. Dave
FreeflyGoat 0 #6 December 3, 2004 I drove up and down the block looking for that Motel6 on advice from somebody else and I could not find it. Ended up staying at some other low end place for $45 which I talked him down to. _________________________ goat derka jerka bukkake jihad
vibeke 0 #7 December 3, 2004 Its really close! On foot, from SkyVenture - go to the corner with Wallgreens parking lot, turn left, cross the road. Go straight past the Wet and Wild on your right, and Scull building on your left. Then you end up with a Pancake house on your left. Just past this Pancake House, turn left and you can see Motel 6 at the end of the small road. _________________________________________________________ Your success and happiness, is in direct proportions to your commitment to excellence, regardless of your chosen field of endeavour. marcandalysse 0 #8 December 3, 2004 They tore down the old motel 6 and built a new one a couple years ago. It's definitely the best deal near the tunnel, we have stayed there a number of times.... marc

eeneR 3 #10 December 3, 2004 When we went a few weeks ago we stayed at the Red Horse Inn...1/2 mile down the road from the tunnel. Wasnt too bad, bathrooms could use some work. But for $35 a night...cant complain...oh and you get a continental B-fast with it too! You just have to make sure you tell them you are at the tunnel. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

Paige 0 #12 December 6, 2004 I was also there this Sat. night I don't mind the Motel 6 at all but I usually don't stay there multiple nights. I think the Skyventure rate is something like $32 or $36 dollars. Ask the front desk girls for a piece of paper to take over to the Motel 6 or have it faxed to them ahead of time.Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com
riddler 0 #13 December 7, 2004 Quotethe Red Horse Hey Paige! Cool meeting you a few weeks ago in Orlando. Love the scar While we were there, we did stay at the Red Horse Inn. There is a discount there for tunnel flyers - if you call and tell them you're in the tunnel, they will give you a room for $35/night. I didn't think it was all that nice, personally - a little on the dirty side. Also, they blare old-style country music in the lobby, which annoyed the heck out of me. But the staff was friendly, it's walking distance and pretty cheap. Or maybe I'm just pissy 'cause the four skychicks I was with didn't invite me to stay in their room Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
flyangel2 2 #14 December 7, 2004 Now wait just a second. Where the hell were you going to sleep in a room with two beds and four gals? The bathtub I didn't mind the Red Horse Inn, I'm only sleeping there. I'd rather use my money for more tunnel time.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. rehmwa 2 #15 March 28, 2005 Just info here. Nice hotel - we used it last week. Very barebones, but who's really in the room anyway while in Orlando. 1 - They overcharged two of us. However, they fixed it right away. 2 - We got locked out one night, I understand it's a common occurence there. I don't like that, we come in from the back and it's isolated. 3 - They noted that the contract for the $29.99 with Skyventure has expired 21 March. They are renegotiating. When we checked in they were grumbling about how cheap our deal is. That was the cause of the overcharge, they tried to charge the full price for our last couple days (contract expired in the middle of our stay). But as I said, the manager immediately fixed the issue and worked in good faith to honor the original contract. Let's hope they get a new contract negotiated. I doubt it will be $29.99 anymore, but hoping. I'd stay there again. ... Paige 0 #16 March 31, 2005 It's great for the money but one time we didn't have a shower curtain. You can't beat it, it's the only Motel 6 I'll stay at and you can't beat $32 instead of $60, about the normal going rate.Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com

Paige 0 #18 April 4, 2005 The skyvneture discount should be $32 or so. If you check out the rates on the back of the door when you get there, or at the front desk, you'll see the savings. It's still a great deal at $39 though.Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com

Paige 0 #20 April 4, 2005 Either way its still mighty cheap compared to their normal rate, sucks the price is going up. I know they had been having some problems at Motel 6 with a lap top being stolen out of a team persons room. They were staying for a significant duration, I've never had problems with short visits.Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com

riddler 0 #22 April 6, 2005 FYI: I was at the Red Horse on Saturday night, April 2. The discounted rate for tunnel flyers has increased to $45 starting January 1. Stayed at the Red Horse too and they charge you all kinds of fees for amusement park stuff that you'll never use if you are just there for the tunnel. It was quite a rip off if you ask me, nice room but not worth it. Pretty sure if you ask for the Motel 6 paper for the discount, they'll still give it. I'll be there Friday and I'll see what I can do about clearning up the confusion. I'd like to know, thanks for the heads up. We stayed at the Motel 6 for $30/night in late February. All you need is the paper from Skyventure. So if its changed, it was after that.
