What has the tunnel done for your flying?

Recommended Posts

Whats the biggest thing the tunnel has improved for you?

for me I notice that now when i turn points i stay in my slot a lot better than i had been before. I no longer slide away from the formation as i'm turning to take my next point.

In the tunnel I learned how to turn with my legs, how to slide, carve and how to go vertical in blocks. B|

A ton. My :D time in the tunnel, I learned how to stay inside the little itty bitty tunnel radius. :D I'd always had a big sky to play in and with experienced jumpers never knew how much I moved around - until I was in a limited space and :o did I learn a lot. Each successive trip to the tunnel teaches me even more from learning to fly the mantis to side slides to knee turns to beginning verticals to....

And I blame my tunnel addiction 100% on Arlo as she's the one that got me booked for my :D time without disclosing how addicting it is. :D

I’ve found it improves the subtleties of my body position, which are difficult to do in free fall. I just did 1:45 minutes of tunnel time this weekend and watching the tapes last night was impressed at how much better my body position was from the fist session to the last. My center points were actual center points, my mantis looked like a mantis, etc.
The tunnel give you time to focus on these things and get good video of them, where it’s much more difficult in the air. Hell, in the air it’s hard enough to get a good point of reference let alone a good camera view of it; actually that is the best part of the tunnel IMHO, you get perfect points of reference for every little motion.

Check out what it did for Mailin on her first AFF jump;)

The JMs let her go on AFF 1???:o

Why not if she was stable? She met all the TLO. Where does it say that the JMs can't let go?

Well....to begin with....:D for the above mentioned first. :D:P

Wait and see what Pete has you do. Usually the coach has you go into the tunnel for the first 2 minutes by yourself so that he can see your skill level, etc. After that, he works on the TLO's that you two agreed to. ;)

I've only made one belly jump after accumulating almost 8 hours since October 31st (mostly sit flying). My belly flying was like night and day. I fell straight down, had great turns, forward and backward movement. The only difference for me was the scenery. Bellyflying in the sky was definately a lot easier than what I was doing in the tunnel.

Hoping to get some sit jumps in this weekend and I'll let ya know the learning curve on that one. Hopefully it goes just as well.

The tunnel helped improve my freeflying tremendously. Especially taking docks, carving in a sit and generally just my awareness of the air flow over my body and how little movements are so important. On my next trip to the US i want to spend a lot of time in there on my belly cos that's where i lack skills the most.
