Atmodude 0 #1 February 10, 2005 Hi, Ant picture or laction of a recirculating windtunnel from Skyventure ? Thnkx !
SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 February 10, 2005 Though they have sold them, Skyventure has yet to produce an actual recirculator. The only recirculating tunnel I know of is the Fort Bragg tunnel.
Atmodude 0 #3 February 10, 2005 the building one in the UK but no construction pics yet.
Adriandavies 0 #4 February 10, 2005 Its not a picture of a skyventure tunnel and its not in action yet but have a look at http://www.bodyflight.co.uk which has an animation of how the wind circulates in their tunnel.
Paulipod 0 #5 February 10, 2005 As has been said above... plus there are a couple of other recirculating tunnels - AeroKart is a recirculating flow also. Our tunnel in Bedford is by far the best though and the only tunnel that will have cooling integrated (check our site for pics) As it was requested.... here is a diagram of the Skyventure planned recirculating facilities (although none of these have been made to date) Confidential and proprietary drawing belonging to SkyVenture removed ~ Sangiro Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
adamUK 3 #6 March 31, 2005 Hey! I wish you guys at bedford well. There's a real buzz about knowing that soon we will have a tunnel of our own! Adam. P.S. Those lads not putting a honeycomb on the contraction inlet? How are they going to reduce the longitudinal component of any turbulence in there? Sorry.. sad fluid dynamics geek. Paige 0 #7 March 31, 2005 They suck big time. The heat is stupid and makes you not even want to fly. An instructor in Vegas lost 9 lbs. in one day. I flew in the evening and it was still stupid hot. Nice to do it once to say you have but other than that its just no fun.Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com
Paulipod 0 #8 April 1, 2005 Thanks Adam, QuoteP.S. Those lads not putting a honeycomb on the contraction inlet? How are they going to reduce the longitudinal component of any turbulence in there? In short - most skydiving tunnels dont have to go to the same stability lengths that scientific tunnels do. The tolerances are alot higher.... some current tunnels probably have +/- 5m/s in places.... but get away with it. adamUK 3 #9 April 1, 2005 I guess you are right... most of my experience has been on much smaller horizontal tunnels which aren't nearly as much fun as those big vertical fellas . I spent some time in Orlando though and had a nice look at the diffuser.. sad geeko or what? So are you saying the velocity profile across the test section is not entirely plug flow?
