Punky_Monkey 0 #1 March 1, 2005 I have tunnel time booked with tunnelcoach. Sally will be my instructor and I am very excited. Just was wondering what to expect and had a few questions. How far ahead of my booked time should I arrive at the tunnel? Is there a place she meets with everyone? Is it possible to have it video taped? Should I bring my log book with me since I am still a student, so she can see where I am at and where my problem areas are? I was told I would be in the tunnel 2 minutes and out 6. Does she debrief you after the two minutes? I am just looking for some information on how this whole set up works. Thanks******* Punky Monkey You may never get rid of the butterflies, but you can teach them how to fly in formation
Bodyflight.Net 0 #2 March 1, 2005 Have you asked Sally or emailed to tunnelcoach.com? I would've thought they would give you all that information up front!
Punky_Monkey 0 #3 March 1, 2005 I have e-mailed several times and the only time I got a responce was when I wanted to make sure my booking went through since I bought my plane ticket. So basically it looks like I am going into this kind of blind right now. Which I don't like. But my tunnel time isn't until the beginning of April so I do have a some time yet.******* Punky Monkey You may never get rid of the butterflies, but you can teach them how to fly in formation
Bodyflight.Net 0 #4 March 1, 2005 I'll take a stab based on how we do things.. I would arrive 1 hour early Yes there is a place to meet, I'm sure you can just ask for Sally when you arrive Yes you can have a video tape, I can't see why not! Yes bring your logbook, and record your tunnel time too! In 2 and out 6 PROBABLY means, you'll be in the outside chamber for 6 while others fly.. I'm sure debrief comes after you exit the tunnel completely. other advice, drink lots of water in the 24 hours before you fly, sleep well and stretch your body! oh, and have fun too!!! I spent some time w/ her coaching a few weeks ago. Here is what I was told/ my experience. Quote How far ahead of my booked time should I arrive at the tunnel? At least 45 mins. Quote Is there a place she meets with everyone? I just met up with her down near the offices. It's not a really big place so you won't have any trouble finding here. If you do, just ask the guys at the counter. Quote Is it possible to have it video taped? Yep, just bring a tape. You can get one at the tunnel as well ( I think they're 5$). You can also just walk over to the Walgreens 25yds away and get one for about 1.50$. Quote Should I bring my log book with me since I am still a student, so she can see where I am at and where my problem areas are? I brought mine, but didn't need it. We discussed what we were going to work on before the session, and I logged my tunnel time in the logbook later. Quote I was told I would be in the tunnel 2 minutes and out 6. Does she debrief you after the two minutes? Yep, 2 in, 6 out. When I was in there, we had 4 or 5 things planned for each 15 min. session. It's really too loud to debrief in during your time in there, but you'll get instructions on what to work on during the next 2 minutes, and she'll give you hand signals while you're in the air. QuoteI am just looking for some information on how this whole set up works. Thanks It's fun, and damn addicting. Have fun! Messages also get lost.... I still am looking forward to working with her and I do have sometime yet to try to get ahold of her.******* Punky Monkey You may never get rid of the butterflies, but you can teach them how to fly in formation
 Ron 10 #8 March 25, 2005 QuoteI have tunnel time booked with tunnelcoach. Seems like you are mine now QuoteHow far ahead of my booked time should I arrive at the tunnel? Plan on an hour if you have never been there before. It will allow the tunnel rats to brief you, and give me plenty of time to brief you as well. (If we jump the days before like we have been PM'ing you can just ride with me). QuoteIs there a place she meets with everyone? Well if we are at the DZ then we will just hook up there....If we meet at the tunnel just sit upstairs and stare at the tunnel...I'll find you. QuoteIs it possible to have it video taped? Yes Walgreens...You can also get a DVD. QuoteShould I bring my log book with me since I am still a student, so she can see where I am at and where my problem areas are? Yes. Quote was told I would be in the tunnel 2 minutes and out 6. Does she debrief you after the two minutes? You will get a pre-brief with some drills and instructions...You will get in air instructions during your flight, and short recaps while you wait for your next flight...you will geta full debrief after your session."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
 Punky_Monkey 0 #9 March 26, 2005 Yup, I am yours now!!! From what I can tell, I will have my work cut out for me and will learn a lot. Can't wait. I am already learning a lot from you just with the PM. I am going to start looking for a way to get to the DZ so we can jump before hand.******* Punky Monkey You may never get rid of the butterflies, but you can teach them how to fly in formation
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
