Indoor time availability?

Recommended Posts

Craichead and myself are thinking of flying to either Orlando or Perris sometime between April 13th and 25th, but we won't be able to confirm anything for a few weeks.

Which site has better availability?

Anyone know when Eloy is going to open?

Huh?

If you call either Orlando, or Perris and book a specific time they state is avaliable, you've now got an appointment for that time.

What's confusing about that?

Because I'm not ready to book yet.

I don't really care which has some time available in the periods I'm looking for, because I can't commit. I am curious which one we'll have better odds at.

Call both tunnels and ask what is available the days you could be there.

The tunnel that has more availability is the one where the sales person tells you that they have more time open.

sales person

I would tend to call them a "booking" or "reservation representatives”. Since they don't have to go out and be pushy like sales people. They don't have to sell that time, there are enough people that will gladly buy the time;)

No - I've seen them turn them away because the tunnel is too full and the wuffo thought he could just show up and get in during his 'walkaround' of the strip. AM should decide whether or not to go and make plans instead of trying to maximize the odds of succeeding on a 'walk-in' booking. Particularly in the spring break time frame. It's not the go carts.

But then, I'm a planner and t-time is worth the effort to me. A more laid back person can just go with it and take his chances.

Stupid snow. Really need to jump.

edit: Andy - I'd ask some (CSR, salesman, stewardess, coach, rep, beaker, Arapaho - titles are highly overrated) at each site: 1-how much lead time they usually need to ensure a booking. The one that has a shorter lead time might have better odds. 2 - Also ask how often they have last minute cancellations and what is needed to get on a wait list for that type of opening. That will guve you an idea. 3 - make friends with those with connections at either (Ron, Dom, etc). Seems like Dom and others sometimes sets up frequent weekend tunnel playtimes. Then if you go, you have someone local who can look out for slots for you once you decide where to go.

Book time and cancel it a week out if you change your mind.

Tunnel time gets to be a precious thing. It goes quick. I would imagine that the Perris Tunnel has a bit more of a cahnce for walkins then Orlando (they have way more wuffos to fill time). Where as the Perris Tunnel does 90% skydivers. Most of them nuying an hour and trying to fill it with friends.

This year Perris has Tunnel Brokers. 10 people that are allowed to book time and sell it seperate from the Tunnel offices. So the time is being snapped up quickly.

Why? I never really understood that?

Do they make money on top of the normal charge, or do they get a discount rate and sell time at the same rate as the tunnel?

They get a discount and "perks" to generate more business.

Kinda like salsmen who work only on commision. Alot like any of the tunnel camps work.

They also have minimums they must meet.
