mdrejhon 8 #1 April 8, 2005 Hi, I looked for windtunnels in Canada, and came up almost empty (except for Niagara Falls). Are there any windtunnels in Canada? Even temporary setups? I'm pretty curious about if there's any located, even anywhere in the province of Ontario or Quebec. If not, then, I guess the nearest ones are elsewhere in Northeast USA (Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachussets, New York).
Bodyflight.Net 0 #2 April 8, 2005 Hi Mark, I make it my job to know this stuff, and unfortunately I don't have any good news for you, to the best of my knowledge... There WERE VWTS in Canada a couple of portables and a stationary, there are a couple trying to get it together and operate, near BC, but nothing as of yet. There is one that is OFF THE RADAR right now, and I have a sneaking suspician it is in Canada, but can't tell you where cuz, well, I don't know!I hadn't heard much about the Niagra Falls tunnel since 2001, but there was supposed to be one as part of a very large complex, the tunnel section was to be phase 1 and a virtual reality type of game center as stage 2 to be opened after the tunnel. No tunnels as of yet in VT, NH, MS & NY although under development, most all tunnels from groundbreaking will require at least 9 months before operations start so it could be a while yet! That leaves you with the SkyVentures, Appalachian Amusement Center, & Flyaway choices with the addition of SkyVenture in Eloy this summer! Could be cool to save up for just after the opening and go visit the new one!! Have fun! Pink Suits, Blue Skies & Fast Tunnels, Dawn Suiter
mdrejhon 8 #3 April 8, 2005 Thanks for the quick reply! Sorry to hear you don't have any better news for me. I guess I'll have to "make do" with an expensive AFF course and then do a whole bunch of jumps I'll definitely check out the windtunnels in other cities, next time I am travelling, though. IanHarrop 42 #4 April 12, 2005 Further to the Niagara rumor here's a website http://www.niagarafreefall.com/freefall/index.htm They have a map to the location, but how real any of this is, I do not know."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
Bodyflight.Net 0 #5 April 12, 2005 How cool... I'm guessing it's not a reality yet since they are using photos of Flyaway in Las Vegas for their display! I just hate when they do that.. as if NO ONE will notice, or as if Flyaway won't mind! I have a picture here, somewhere in my archives. of that tunnel under construction, without the glass pyramid on top and still in development, from back in 2001.. I still can't believe they aren't done yet!! But good to know they apparently haven't given up! Thanks!
