staceyg 0 #1 May 27, 2005 Hi, "Burn Baby Burn" was the theme as the site clearing work for the SkyVenture New Hampshire tunnel got underway. One of the homes on the property was donated to the Nashua Fire Dept for live fire training, and after a few small burns in various rooms they lit the garage up and let the house burn to the ground. It was interesting, and a little scary, to watch the progression of the fire; and it only took about an hour for the house to be gone. It was a fun way to spend a dreary afternoon! The owners say the tunnel should be open by December; can I put tunnel time on my Christmas list? :-) Blues, Stacey (future tunnel rat) ps: having a tunnel about 10 mins from my house is going to be hazardous to my bank account. AggieDave 6 #4 May 27, 2005 That's one of the funniest pictures I've seen in a while. The skyventure sign with the house burning...sorry, its just plane funny. Someone needs to submit it over at Fark for a Photoshop contest.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

staceyg 0 #7 May 28, 2005 Originally it was supposed to open this summer, but the inevitable delays happened, and the sign was never changed. Whenever it opens it will be a 12-footer, just like Orlando; but re-circulating so hopefully we don't freeze in the winter. How would you heat something like this anyway? Paige, what does it take to get into the PMTS? I've got about 60 mins in Orlando, but that was a couple years ago. Does it still count? I took a look at Fark.com; had never heard of it before! I'll post the pic as soon as I figure out how! Stacey
Paulipod 0 #8 May 28, 2005 QuoteHow would you heat something like this anyway? You wouldnt... you would need to keep it cool! - this is done mostly by bringing in cold air from the outside. All recirculating systems need to be kept cool as the air heats up as it is moved by the fans - that old Isaac Newton messed it up for us with his laws of conservation.... swedishcelt 0 #10 May 29, 2005 Anxiously awaiting this. Glad to finally know of it's progress. A lot of us in East were wondering.
Bodyflight.Net 0 #11 May 29, 2005 Quotewhat does it take to get into the PMTS? The simple initiation involves you, a PMTS Delegate, and a Barbie™ doll, a tradition handed down by our skysisters, the founding PMS! Your initiating delegate will provide the Barbie™, all you have to do is express an interest by getting in touch with a delegate, and buying your flight time! After giving you some time to get familiar with your environment, your delegate will fly over to you with Barbie™ and you will be expected to then take her, performing a ‘pass’. If you’re just starting out in the tunnel (or are at a SkyVenture), you’ll simply have to ‘dock’ on Barbie™, meaning touch/hold her while your Delgate maintains control of the doll. freefalling2day 0 #12 May 30, 2005 We are planning on opening by the end of December providing our design team stays on schedule. We will be a 12 foot , 1200 hp, recirculating tunnel. We went with the 1200 hp vs. 1000 hp. to service the freeflier market. Speed is LIFE! We welcome the Pink Mafia and other such groups. Our web site is coming soon and we will then post the latest and greatest. Blue Skies! Laurie & Rob
TunnelRat 0 #13 May 30, 2005 That's funny as hell that you burnt down a house to build a tunnel. Hey, if that's what it takes then I've got a lighter. I hope you called the local news crews. That's a golden opportunity for some media attention. Didn't somebody ask about how to heat up the tunnel? There you go. Burn down the neighbors house.
