Girls Ruled @ Flyaway Las Vegas

Recommended Posts

February 10th, 2006, Flyaway Las Vegas played host to eight new Tunnel Pink Mafia Sisters (friends & family too) who were inducted at the Get Love Struck boogie.

There was quite the crowd on hand to witness the girlie flying fun. Ten females in total flew for about an hour and had an absolute blast freeflying and belly flying.

Kate, a Flyaway instructor was chosen as the newest TPM delegate. Her attitude and infectious smile are a fantastic new addition to the sisterhood. She knows what it is to spread love and fly.

Comforting my fears of being able to fly w. Barbie was Jody. She could tell I was nervous, hell I flat out told her I was scared I would suck bad, and Jody responded w., "Just fly in the middle we'll come to you." Those words and attitude of her and all the other ladies really made me relaxed and ultimately fly better.

Sarah and her silly bandana photo really made me feel at home and at ease. It was nice to know the girls weren't all serious about their flying and liked to have a good time.

One sister, Carly, I met back in Richmond thanks to Kelly and Vern. It took us a while to figure out where we knew each other from but I was certain I'd seen her smiling face before. In the end we realized it's such a small world. Carly was recently married, I wish her all the luck in the world.

Juliana our youngest TPM sister to date showed us all a thing or two by flying up to the top net like the fearless kid she is. Watch out, when she gets older she'll be a force to reckon w. Her flying is amazing and it was a joy to have her up past her bed time!

Other inducted sisters include Sammantha, Ann, & Julie. It was a pleasure flying w. all of the ladies and I had a blast doing the inductions.

In addition to flying and fun, the Get Love Struck boogie was also a fundraiser for the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society. In total (w. a few last min. donations) 'Flying w. Cupid' brought in $400 for our little furry friends! Not bad for one day of fundraising and a few lump sum donations.

All in all, the event was a success for the Tunnel Pink Mafia and Flyaway Las Vegas. However, the real winners are all the kitties and puppies that need food and other necessities at the shelter.

Making life easier for those in need, human or otherwise, is a goal that the Tunnel Pink Mafia will continue to pursue. Through tunnel flying events we hope to create improved community relations and shed a positive light on the sport of human bodyflight.

Sorry for not letting everyone know about Kate via email as soon as we had her. I was waiting for Ari to set up her email address so I can shoot one off. That way she can have your and Dawn's address.

She'll be Kate@tunnelpinkmafia.com

I'm so excited for May. I know you'll love meeting Kate. She's an absolute doll and pleasure to fly w. She's amazing.

Brad and Steve were so much fun! What amazing flyers they were. I'm pretty sure they were having a good time bouncing off walls and playing around.

Sorry it took me so long to write this. For those of you who don't know me I am the EVER BUSY and absent minded professor.

Wow how to start this?

Fly Away Las Vegas ROCKS.

When paige first told me about flyaway I was down for the idea but not overly excited. I figure what the heck. Why not do a fund raiser and fly in a different tunnel? It was an experience to have.

Then the day came and we got to tunnel. I have never seen people so excited to help out complete strangers. The entire staff was welcoming, fun loving, and happy to have us there.

I was a little nevous because of the difference between the Sky Venture and flyaway. (sky venture was the only tunnels I had flown in until Fly Away.) My first flight with everyone watching I felt like a fool. 10 hrs in tunnels and I couldn't even stay in the airstream let alone fly.

When I got out of the tunnel I was met with cheers and excitment. Everyone and tips and hints to share. They wanted me there and have a good time doing it, not because I was some great flyer (ha ha ha) but rathter because we all could have more fun and learn from each other.

Over the course of the weekend I had the oppertunity to get back in the tunnel a fly a ton. Every time with improvement, every time with more more help from th tunnel rats.

By the time we were getting ready to leave I was flying with all the girls (and guys), even doing some four way stuff.

There was just this positive enegy that makes you want to stay, spread love, and fly.

Yes the vegas tunnel was challenging at first. Isn't everything that worth anything though?

Thank you so much, To Flyaway Las Vegas and all the tunnel rats who call it home. We had a blast.

And to all skydivers and tunnel rats...your a fool if you don't get out there and FLY AWAY in LAS VEGAS.

On a more personal note thanks K8 for all the love.
Hope to see all the Vegas Hommies soon.

As Paige would say, spread your love and fly!!!!
Blue Skys,
Carrie

Glad you had a great time, it was a blast hanging out with you girls down at the tunnel.
P.S. your flying kicked ass the last day I flew with you.

Don't disrespect just because you can't hang in my tunnel. Here's to blue skys and cool recirculating tunnels.
