TheCaver 0 #1 March 9, 2006 Anyone have any feelings on this helmet? I get headaches when wearing the ill fitting (for my head) Protec's http://www.boneheadcomposites.com/rathat.htm Its either this, a Mamba, or Oxygn, but I kind of like the semi open face design.....And no worrying about the visor popping up..... Thoughts?
Paige 0 #2 March 9, 2006 I can only say that I also got headaches from my bonehead (pretty sure it was not a rat hat though) no matter how many times I cooked it. I only cooked it a few but ultimately sold it for a Z1 and 2K camera helmet. My Oxygen flew open all the time in the tunnel so I sold it also and that helped pay for the other half of the Z1. Love my Z1. 2K custom makes them to your measurements, it's a great helmet.Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com
diablopilot 2 #3 March 9, 2006 Oxygn helmets are problematic in the wind tunnel enviorment, if you want a SkySystems helmet, get a Factory Diver. The best bet however is the Bonehead line. The Mamba rocks, and functions beautifuly, we've seen several in the tunnel as of late. The Rat-Hat has a comfortable fit too......---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
Bill_K 0 #4 March 9, 2006 Here is me last month in Orlando in the tunnel with my Mamba. Sorry about the quality of the picture. I did 30 minutes in there and I loved it. I love it in free fall too.

My advice is try out the mamba because it's incredible. It was a good chunk of cash but SUPER worth it.
skycat 0 #6 March 9, 2006 I love my Z1 also, I hate open faces, in the dry colorado air my nose starts burning after just a minute, so a full face is a must. I have no worries that my visor will open due to the design. The Mamba also looks like a good design that will not come open in the tunnel, no idea on the fit of that one as very few people wear a size small. Fly it like you stole it! abovethesky 0 #7 March 19, 2006 I agree with all of the comments about the Mamba - I just finished tunnel camp and used mine for the first time in the tunnel - it was awesome! (a little hard to get open at first, but once you get used to it - no problem)
TheCaver 0 #8 March 20, 2006 I like the idea of an open face, its just something about those protec's at SV facilities that gives me an instant headache, especially when the wind gets into the bottom of the helmet, when doing sit or some belly manuvers. So the open face design of the RH combined with its lower jaw closure looked appealing. After all, I still suck and am just starting my sit flying so I need to hear all the instruction that I can :) In any case, it came down to either the Rat Hat or Mamba, and I went with the Rat Hat since I like underdogs :P With goggles it doesn't look nearly as cool as the Mamba, but hey, whatever..... If it doesn't work out, it'll be for sale soon and I'll be ordering a Mamba instead. I'll have to see how much teasing I get next time I'm at SVO :) Cheers, JC
