Rain and SVO

Recommended Posts

I have a camp out April 6-10

We've been lucky the last few years, never any bad weather other than a couple gusty days.

I have no idea of the weather forecast, but the rest of the country is seeing cycles of heavy rain lately.

Does the tunnel draw much moisture up when it's raining?

I'd think not as the draw below the lip isn't that fast, but would like to know so I can plan an extra jumpsuit and extra changes of clothes.

I've only been once when it was raining, and I never got wet. I think you're correct in that at the bottom of the tunnel, the pressure is so low that it doesn't have the strength to pull in rain.

However, I have been hit on a couple of occasions by small insects (which sting pretty good if hit on bare skin :) .

I'm sure Mike will chime in soon with the official word....

:D my second camp I had a friend along who was wearing a white suit that camp. It was through tunnelcamp.com and Brannon arranged some evening time for us. High winds + bright light + white suit = polka dotted suit. It was very funny, I don't think he ever got the spots out.:D

You'll get plenty wet if it's pouring. It sucks it up for sure. I've come out soaked and not really known it. Ari's suit changed colors (they got waaaay darker) it was so wet one night flight.

Word of advice....Silver nylon goes see thru when wet...same with white :) Make sure you dont just decide to toss your jump suit on over your drawers if it is going to rain.

:)

I have been in there when the rain is good, and if it puddles underneath the intake, it will get sucked in.

how dare you tell someone not to wear something see through, for shame:P, what eeneR really meant to say was white nylon is an awesome material for women looking to fly in the tunnel during the rainy season

Big ol' fat rain drops, not so much wetness in the tunnel. Light showers, fog, you're getting soaked.

This makes sense. Thanks to all. Less than a week now.

Yes it will! We were in SVP when it was foggy and we were all drenched (right through clothes to the undies beneath!!). Def take a spare set of clothes - worse case scenario is that you'll have brought them with you unneccesarily.

Thanks all - lucked out again, perfect weather, top notch coaches, too much time (if that's possible) significant skill level breakthroughs. 3 Tunnel Pink Mafia initiations (thanks Paige), tons of 4way time, some bootie flying, a 10 year old little girl flying all on her own. met wendy, paige, scaryshari and got to talk to the Anvil.

The SVO team is great, too, Chris and Alex and Rusty took incredibly good care of our two non-jumpers (one of which is my little girl) and they learned tons.

so.....very......tired
so.....very......satisfied
